I've got a set of forged 20x10/20x11 with R888 285's front and 315's rear on my Gt currently. I know I would either need spacers or new rims (different offset) up front for the 350. The rims are pretty light (about 10 pounds lighter each compared to pp wheels) and tires are pretty much new. But I'm curious how these tires themselves would compare to the R's tires.

I would love to run a 305 up front but not to many options for 20's in a track tire.

Triple 8's will out perform but probably not by a huge margin. Triple 8's are a very sticky tire and will honestly probably work better in the wet despite the rating and performance category. I'm not sure if Ford has done something special but PSC2's are generally horrid in the wet.

I'm Not concerned with wet performance as I won't be driving in the rain.

So it's safe to say this setup would out perform the stock pss tires at the track even with the 285 up front? The one time I autocrossed my Gt with this setup, I did notice quite a bit of under steer when pushing hard. They do stick like glue though.

All about the compound. I'd sacrifice 10mm of track for a compound that is like waving a magic wand.

R888's are insanely heat sensitive and need to be within their range otherwise they get greasy. They're not a very forgiving tire if you over work them but they can take some punishment.

Cup2's will far out perform the R888's.

^not sure about "far outperform". Either way they will be close in performance. Have not found anyone who has backed to back MPSC2s with either R888 or NT01

The R888's are a softer compound and have a more aggressive tread pattern(less tread, more contact area). My question was more to see how the 285/315-20 R888 combo would compare in track performance to the R's 305/315 cup2 combo.

Considering a few things. The R888 is almost 7 year old technology and the cup tires are only about a year old at this point. There is a bit more going for the cup 2 tires. Compared to what we saw grip wise on the World Challenge cars the cup tires can see almost the same level of grip on a new production C7Z with not near the aero grip helping. I would be willing to bet $50 that a cup2 would run a quicker lap same car same day same driver

I am with 1LEThumper. R888's really aren't that good of a tire and they get greasy quick. Cup 2's are much better. Nitto NT01's would be a better alternative.

Toyo has already released the R888 replacement, the R888R, in Europe. I am sure that tire will be available soon and eventually in a 20" size

People really don't understand just how important a solid track tire is on a car. There are SECONDS to be had in tires alone...heck that is pretty much the only reason the R is as much faster than the normal GT350 is the Cup2's. Same thing on the C7 Z06....the Z07 package cars have the Cup2's and the others are Super Sports....the brake distance, lateral G, and lap times are way different.

Then you get into slicks........hole other topic

You are forgetting its wheels matter too not just the R's tires.

NT01's are pure garbage. Same with NT05's. You can run faster times on RS-3's than you can NT01's despite the rating.
I'd have to disagree. They're slightly better, last longer, and slightly faster than R888s (arguably similar) but are faster than RS3s, which admittedly are close for a street tire.

I disagree as well. I have run NT01's a bunch. IMHO they are the best tire for the money you can get. They never heat cycle out. Run them to the cords. Far better than RS3's. RS3's will overheat quickly. I do like RS3's if you need a tire for both track and street. NT01's are all I buy for a track tire now. No more research necessary for me. but I only do 30-40 track days a year so someone else may have more experience.
