Front Plate attachment

I have asked my dealer not to attach the front holder and to tape the plate to the front bumper.

He said he will do it as long as I didn't mind that the ends of the plate will stick out away from the bumper.

You guys that have managed this, are you using a thinner then standard front plate then?

I've gone through this and still haven't fixed my plate lol.
Warmed up a spare plate with a hair dryer and it bent ok but it marked the front so I gave that a miss. Came home from the dealers with the front plate in the window, then fitted the plate with heavy duty 3 m stickers. That worked for a while but it started to lift from the edges and you could see the stickers, so I poured hot water over it and removed the plate. The stickers came off ok without any damage.So now I have fitted the Ford one which needed drilling., the bumper is pre marked so you can't mess up.Some maybe using the thin Ali type plate which could be easier to stick on as it's lighter and flexible.

If you want the plate to 'wrap' you can either get it Vinyl printed onto the bodywork OR get an aluminium plate, another option is to 'find' where the curve in the front bumper is, mark it out and then 'bend' the plate, so it won't stick out.

He might also be referencing 'sticking out' as in there will be a gap, small mind you, that could come from the sticky pads they're using being too 'thick' easily fixed.

The bumper is still curved even at the sides.

I know this because in an effort to "temporarily" stick my plate to the car, I had to use an extra couple of sticky strips to fill the space at the outer end of the plate.

I have a self-adhesive plate ready to go on over the clear 3M film I'm having applied but if that were not the case, my second choice would be an aluminium plate with a suitable angle in the middle.

I'm sure somebody has done this on their CO car and there's a black one too but I can't remember who or what thread.

With the right bend, you could attach pretty much flush to the bumper if you wanted to. I used 'dual lock' which leaves a bit of a gap mind you.

We have a winner! This alu plate looks perfect.

I'm considering using some of these brackets too however. I'm not actually fussed about drilling the bumper, but I am *really* not keen on the ford dealer fitted bracket.

Car won't be here till spring so plenty of time to decide!

I used a couple of pieces of 3M dual lock. The plates have stayed firmly in place for over 1200 miles and allow for a 'sto n show' option for photoshoots. I'd go for circular pieces rather than square if I were doing again though.

Couldn't bring myself to drill the bumper.

Digging this one out a bit, but what are peoples thoughts on click plates for either just the front, or front and back.

I think they look a hell of a lot better then the monstrousity they provide.

They're a mid point between the atrocity which is the bulky ones you provide, and 3m sticky pads for it and/or aluminium plates.
