There's a fully front/rear camo'd Mustang testing in Michigan. They aren't out there testing a new front/rear fascia refresh only...you don't need to be on the road for that. Also one of the members who works for Ford mentioned that a 10 speed is out in the wild testing already. Updated news today on the new transmissions also. To me, that supports a '17 refresh more then any '18 refresh. Add in the new Camaro and Ford has a great opportunity to respond in less then a year (and all these things have been in the works for years)
If it were a significant '17 refresh they'd have more complete camo and there would be other differences.

Those camo'd vehicles were probably for a new package ala Bullitt/Mach 1.

You would see a LOT more prototypes running around if there was a significant powertrain update coming in '17.

The Camparo still will have that dated look and tired, awkward interior. The ford is the day in day out winner even if it me a second slower on a track. The only thing I want ford to take note of is that the Ss has available magnetic dampers. I want the gt350 set available for my gt.

Are you serious?

A significant refresh is the 10 speed auto with a refreshed front/rear which is exactly what was camo'd. Have you never seen a mid-cycle refresh? The car isn't camo'd like a next gen. It's exactly like what you are seeing, which is a front/rear camo which is almost always what is camo'd on a mid cycle refresh. Go look at most mid-cycle refreshes, they almost always include a front/rear change and nothing else to the body.

The Mach 1/Bullitt would be heavily camo'd and both would be performance variants which would have many more performance parts on them.

How do you know the powertrain proto-types arent out there now? You don't have to camo a 10-speed transmission you know that right? You don't have to camo a HP bump. Hidden in plain sight.

You'll be paying a pretty $$$ when you have to replace that MRC. I don't think people realize what it costs to upkeep MRC and the costs.

Oh yes, I know plenty about Ford vehicle development and product launch, including what MCAs are. Let's just say I've been closer to this stuff than 99.99% of the people on this forum.

No, not really. Just fortunate to have experience and knowledge from working in it.

Would you rather have your expectations changed now or be disappointed in January/February? Ford is certainly working on a significant refresh, including powertrain updates. They won't deviate from plan just because of the camaro. Real work takes time to do right and 3 years is the time needed. Ford has no incentive to overspend and take a lot more risk by compressing their schedule when they're handily outselling the competition and bringing in a lot of sales from outside their usual base. They have more than the Mustang to worry about, and diverting resources away from those things to bring a S550 refresh to market faster hurts Ford overall. Keep in mind that the Fusion, Focus, Escape and Explorer sell in higher numbers than the Mustang does, not to mention the F-150 (which shares a lot of the powertrain and its development).

I'm shocked it took until page 15 for the hellcat to even be mentioned.

Coming from a diehard mopar background, I love the S550. It's a much nicer car than the charger/challenger platform. My only experience in the S550 is via a two week rental of a V6 convertible rental car. And I am hooked. I won't be buying for at least 3-4 months, but I'm excited to get my hands on my own. The S550 is a car that I can comfortably live with day to day. The thing I'm most surprised about is how strong the 6r80 is. The power output people are putting through it stock is a pipe dream for any mopar owner, many with a "built" trains can only dream of the power levels guys are holding with the 6r80.

Sure it's not perfect, but let's face reality the S550 is not a Lamborghini. The fitiment reflects the price point. It seems that many here expect a champagne car on a beer budget. The reality is its just going to happen.

455hp coming out of a 6.2L engine? Now that is a disappointment.
Exactly. I am well pleased with my Mustang. I believe the Mustang is a better balanced package and looks better overall.

Sales-wise we all know it hasn't disappointed, but performance-wise the reactions have been mixed at best. The first and foremost disappointment was the weight increase. The second, lots of fans were expecting at least 450hp and more torque (the Camaro has 455 ft-lbs). Then, it was motor trend that gave the title to the gen-5 Camaro vs the S550 GTPP in a duo comparison. Now, the Camaro 6 has hit the streets and according to Automobile magazine, "brings the ponywars to a new frontier"
The truth is of all the reviews I've read, the Cam6 surprised almost everyone and the Stang6 disappointed quite a few fans and critics.
I was going to save $$ for the GT350 in 2017, but now that they say it's almost impossible to get (I'm not paying a dollar over sticker) I'll probably have to settle for the S550 GT, but after the comparison to the Cam6, I'm starting to think twice (no, I will never own a Camaro) of owning one soon. Will Ford counterattack sooner than expected? If so, how?
I pretty much love everything about my car, and this is my first Mustang. I love all the aftermarket parts for the car as well. I have a hard time believing anyone could drive my car and not enjoy it. Good luck

I've been a GM guy my entire life and didn't consider the Camaro after I compared prices. I work for Ford and with the A plan my GT with all of 3 options dropped to around $29-30K. I priced out an SS with comparable options to what my GT came with standard and the price was pushing $40K.
I could throw $10k of parts into it to equal the price and it'd be flying off the road.

was it a fair comparison, or was it your A plan price vs MSRP?

My A plan price vs the camaro's MSRP. Basically what I'd be paying for each vehicle at the dealership.

While not a 'fair' comparison for others it is what I based what I would be buying on.

so Chevy only sells cars at MSRP huh? if that's the case i would never buy a car from them, ever.

i dont like paying a dime over invoice price, but prefer to pay 500 - 1000 below invoice, like i paid for my mustang and my wrx using truecar.com
