Upset about the build quality

Before you take delivery, those items would be indicated as things to correct, and that should be in writing when you are talking with the salesperson. As you likely know, that is why there is a pre-delivery inspection wash.

While frustrating, those are all things that should be fixable without too much trouble.

Paint I understand but are these panel issues considered within Ford's margin of error?

As one poster mentioned, this is a car thats built on the same line as every other mustang and fusion currently made right now. This surprises you? I would be somewhat irritated, but surely no one bought this car to scrutinize the panel gaps and whatnot. Im sure everyone here that bought a GT350 bought it for the drivetrain, suspension and heritage surrounding it.

My Fusion has some gap-ing issues too. Thems the breaks with a Ford. They seem to have gotten worse at this as my Boss is pretty good for the most part, and my Focus is absolutely perfect.

But really if I wanted perfectly aligned panels, I'd buy a $70k Audi that's half as fast.

My Fusion has this and that wrong with gap fit and the driver's seat squeaks when I drive it but not with my girlfriend (220lbs vs 110llbs).

My B302, albeit a Pilot Production car, is perfect... Couldn't ask for a better car.

As far as that the car in question goes, it must look a helluva lot worse in person than in the pics as what I see is knit-picking. This car is just like any other mass-produced Mustang as it was built in the same assembly lines.

This car won't make it to the "How It's Made" series due to its status of being a "common" Ford product, so it won't have hands placed all over it, lasers measuring gaps, 3 and 4 sets of eyes and sign offs before it rolls off the line on fit n finish, so why quibble about the best damn sports car ever built having very minor details in the assembly process?

If they had charged you an extra $10K just to have wool gloves ran over it once before it left the line and either sent back for perfection vs discharged from the factory would you have paid it? Then you would be in the same complaint crowd as those complaint about the Z/28.

As Tony stated, go over the car with a fine tooth comb and get all of your issues documented and written down. This way you have recourse to get said issues fixed.

First Todd we really would like to get a better pic of those wheels you waited a year for !

Second . If some goof balling Dealership put a GT350 upon the showroom floor with this many flaws that were this obvious and were trying to pawn IT off as complete ..well I would be out that revolving door and on a certain mission to undertake that all important chewing out of the Man in charge to verify that some goof ball has no chance of even touching MY GT 350 ..........................................The End ........................................................................

It's not perfect but its not a deal breaker for me. Even my LE 50th anniversary Wimbledon White 2015 wasn't perfect from the factory, largest flaw being the passenger side of the rear bumper not lining up perfectly like the shelby you posted pics of. But oh well, its the last thing I think about when driving the car.

I honestly don't think it's a money issue at this point. They had the opportunity to engineer it and assemble it - that time was spent. It's free to do it right, so it's just a little irritating.

Sorry but the "If I wanted good panel alignment, I would have bought X for X" doesn't really cut it, in my book.

Sure, the GT350 is a good performance bargain but that shouldn't mean that Ford gets a pass on quality issues that companies like KIA seem to do fine at. They definitely seem to have gone backwards and are not on par with the masses.

So I'm saying that it has nothing to do with price or value. In this day and age, these types of issues should be the exception, not the rule.

Hell, my GT has friggin' visible grind marks under the paint on the passenger rear quarter near the ducktail. :frusty: Thought about raising hell about it but didn't want to tear into factory paint and end up with a bigger mess. Whatever.

Otherwise it's pretty decent compared to other fit and finish debacles I've seen on here....

Dude, no problem being picky as long as it's not asinine pickiness (insanely minor details). It's perfectly reasonable to expect a high level of quality from any service or product. That shouldn't matter if it was 100 or 100k. Companies need to learn & hear from consumers when they fail to meet expectations.

Sadly, we're dealing with a juggernaut here so your response will be varied. Do what you can to keep them honest. Who knows what'll happen. You'll find resolution to your own issues and/or help the future pony owners.

The sad thing is, to get these incredibly insignificant things repaired up to your standards by the dealer, you run the risks of creating more problems. I've seen many people go in with a small complaint, whether it be panel gaps or what not, to then pick up there car with new scratches. Then only to have those scratches fixed and the paint not match and they then they noticed a small dent. You open up the opportunity for this snowball effect of molestation to come down on your car. There has to be some level of acceptance when these cars are made and the same has to apply to the buyer. This is NOT a 100K+ car and no matter how much ADM you pay, your car will never be perfect.

I think it is amazing the excuses some people will make for a manufacturer. If I'm paying a large chunk of money for something whether it's a car, house, etc. I would expect the level of quality to be high. If a company is allowing a sloppy product to get out, whether it's a $20k Mustang or a $60k Mustang, that's bad on them. I get that they aren't going to catch every minor issue but if people were finding this in '15s when they just came out and they couldn't take the time to fix some of those issues and we just keep giving them a pass and saying oh well it's the motor that counts, then they are just going to keep doing it. Sorry, but I'm not throwing down big money on just part of the vehicle, it's the whole package I'm buying.

I don't know why anyone expects fit and finish of the '15 GT350, '15 GT350R, any 2016 Mustang will be different than the '15 models. I doubt the factory has changed anything.

My GT PP had most of these issues. Then panel gaps can somewhat be adjusted, the stripes I think are painted so those are stuck where they are afaik. Sad to see the GT350 is really not held to any higher standards than a base model V6...
