Just a curiosity question. As I read a lot of post on mods and what not, I see people always referring to being stopped by cops etc. I can say as a LEO, I love modded cars and always roll my windows down to hear how people's sound etc. I personally don't get two shits how loud, tinted or modded your car is (law wise). I may be the exception though lol :eyebulge:
You are the exception. Most cops in my area don't know much about cars and usually pull you over to harass you-rarely it's for speeding. I have had cops pull me over just to admire my car or bike and 510 me (light me up). That, I don't appreciate.

If you want to talk cars-just pull up beside me and signal.

I care about infotainment
Driven a Mustang GT for 7 years in South, FL now and never been pulled over. Just gotta be smart and pick your spots, and be lucky

I gassed it accidentally right next to an under covered cop on the high way, obviously he followed pursuit with his lights, so i pulled over to the side rather fast and braked pretty hard, not giving him time to stop behind me as he had sped up as well, so he passed me, we made eye contact and he drove off.

it was a close call. got a radar after that.
fixed haha

I gunned it once to get around a bunch of people piled up in the left lane and realized they were piled up in the left because a cop was doing 65 in a 70 in the left lane. Thank goodness for Brembos, 85 back to 65 in a hurry!

I stupidly accelerated up a hill. At the top of the hill on the side of the road a cop was parked. I was doing maybe 75 in a 45 trying to pass a group of cars at the bottom of the hill. Fortunately, the cop either didn't see me, wasn't trying to write a ticket, or couldn't tell that I was speeding. My radar detector did not activate nor did the cop react... I got lucky.

I like to put it in neutral under overpasses and give it a rev. But this one day on a turnaround under the overpass, there was LEO who had someone pulled over. I didn't see him until I did it, but he snapped his neck fast to see who it was. I nearly shit my pants, lol. Gave me a thumbs up though. That was pretty cool.

I only do it every once in a while. If we had tunnels in my area, I guarantee I'd make sure I made a lot of noise.
Damn, that is pretty cool, lol. I wouldn't expect that either and would nearly shit too :p.

For me, I'm actually VERY surprised that I've never gotten a ticket. It's not that I drive like an idiot, but I do drive a little aggressive considering everyone drives -10 and 15 mph under the speed limit here in Baton Rouge and hold up all the lanes. They're the ones driving like idiots. Also, with the illegal tint and loud ass Roush axle-backs, I would have thought that it would have caused an issue or two.

When I do see other mustangs, we usually compliment each other's car and make a little bit of noise, but not excessive (for too long). I also like to haul ass when merging onto the interstate when the entrance is long, and about 8 of 10 times (not even joking) I end up right next to a cop or two on the interstate when I merge, so I usually have to calm it down.

been stopped twice. once by a cop who had an 04 cobra and wanted to check out my car/find out what exhaust I was running. Second time the cop wrote me a ticket for 52 in a 45. Yes, 52. In an area where people regularly do 60+ because its 3 lanes both ways. he wasn't pleasant to deal with either. first speeding ticket I've ever gotten (i've owned 5 modded mustangs previously without one). thankfully I ended up getting out of it. I typically save the need for speed for the track, or a wide open back country road with nothing in sight but farm fields. not sure what that guy's deal was.

I HATE it when people get all scared and shit and don't want to pass a cop that's driving slow. I would gladly do 70 in a 70 and pass up a cop doing 60 or 65 in a 70, lol. I always do this too. Half the time these cops be talking on their phones and not even paying attention while everyone is piling up behind him going even slower.

I had my fair share of tickets as a kid but I've only had one in ten years (and it was total BS of course). I generally just don't speed any more... not reason to. I do juice it at time for acceleration or take fun hard corner when safe but never to hard and I cut it off at the speed limits. Once you do crazy stuff at the track, you find no reason to do it on the road... kinda boring on the road.

Coppers around these parts seem focused on targeting cars of younger obvious altered cars and I'm ok with that.

Although I remember my brother in law who's much younger then I had a mini-truck styled truck that he used for work (beater kinda thing). This kids a a strait arrow, never broke the law, hard working... never speeds and he was pulled over daily (literately) when driving it. Cops would drag drug dogs in to sniff it out. If you think thats bollix, he lived with my mother in law who was 65 and would borrow the truck to haul stuff to rentals... she'd get pulled over to. They were profiling for Mexicans around here who this kind of style was popular with at the time.

I did something similar on I5, there was a cop car with lights on who pulled someone over. The speed limit was 60 and I was in the middle lane with people slowing down to 45 mph, the left lane was opened so I changed lanes and accelerated to 60 and was passing them all when *another* cop comes running up from far behind me, pulls me over and says to me "you thought you were safe speeding huh". Funny thing... I was doing the speed limit, I was just going 15 mph faster then the people doing 45 next to me. He gave me a ticket of course with no proof of my speed and ignored me trying to tell him that.

That was my one ticket in 10+ years.

How fast did he say you were going on the ticket?

If I recall right he said 75MPH. Or course he came from 2+ miles behind me (we were going up a hill) so that was part of the complete BS of it all. He lit me up like 1-2 miles past the traffic when I had already moved into the right lane since I was already in my exit lane slowing down even under the speed limit.

Doesn't a cop need some form of proof in order to write a speeding ticket?

Not necessarily, I've paced people with my speedo and matched their speed to tell. Tickets are just officer discretion, so usually if people are nice I'm not gonna give them one. Some people get off on it though. I just tell people to slow down and try not to kill themselves or someone else lol.

I got a ticket in 09 driving to Oklahoma, but he looked pissed off at the world so I didn't even show him my badge. Just took the ticket. I was going 13 over, so inside I just chuckled about his bad day.

i bet he was using a Doppler radar. Which doesn't show who is speeding if there's a group. You have to judge who looks like they were going faster. It's a flawed piece of equipment for a large group of traffic.
