First a disclaimer: I'm sorry if this is a member's car from this site. But... it's a good/bad example of OP's comment.

See instagram link:

The hashtagged post that initially caught my attention. Looks like there are massive spacers on the rear, none on the front. That wing though!

This is a member of our local Atlanta S550 club. It is Andrew's car. He tracks the car all the time, hence his choice of wing and splitter.

If you don't like fake scoops, then you don't like fake scoops -- I don't. I personally think it is the biggest mistake with the new Roush, especially the terrible hood scoop. But is that stuff really "ricey"? I mean, it is certainly disappointing you pay so much for a car like the Roush and they can't even put a REAL hood on it, but Ford/Shelby have been putting fake scoops and "look fast" parts on Mustangs well before there were any modded imports in this country. So I guess the domestics really started the "rice" trend, no?

At the end of the day, people aren't really doing anything they haven't done before. Yet...

Just wait until these cars start getting "stanced". Then we may be trending in a different direction. And now that the Mustang has IRS, its going to happen. Who is excited for excess camber, poor handling, lack of traction, bad braking -- making the car crappier in general for the sake of looking like you car has broken suspension and axles?

You will know it has become a trend when you start hearing words like "poke", "tuck", "stretch", and guys talking about their car being in the shop getting the new camber plates installed and the camber being dialed in at -4*, their 225s being mounted on their 10" wide wheels, and the welder finishing up the skid-plates.

Yep, and so did the Saleen's. No one called them "rice" that I ever saw. Not sure why they are now, especially when we have been getting fake scoops since the 60's. To not like them is one thing, but they are hardly "rice".
agreed. maybe it's the influx of new mustang owners from the import world is what is bringing in all this rice talk over roush? who knows. I'm a new mustang owner and it's my 1st but i can't see the rice in it. To me though rice is giant spoilers and neons and fart cannons

LOL Having just moved from Japan I agree they do have some odd tastes in cars and how they customize. Everyone here was on the JDM craze so the Japanese were on the USDM craze. Then they just morphed into "hey let's do this regardless of how stupid it looks" craze.

But that's not the worst. The worst was the biker gangs that rode around on 250cc street style dirt bikes with banana seats and shitty mufflers and would rev their motors for 30 miles straight. Get a dozen of them together and they will wake the dead!

And you have red rings around your wheels. Ferrari / lambo / Bentley / aston martin / corvette / most sports cars and nice cars that dont have stick on stuff guys love that! Pretty sure the ricers started that trend. You seam like your getting angry, now.:D
Fixed it for you stick on scoop boy

Yeah I remember seeing the Bosozoku in Osaka last year. The bikes were ridiculous.

Hate to say it, old school American car guys (pre 2000's) are gonna hate it. When I look back at 1995-2000 there was American Muscle guys and there were Jap car guys. They did most things different all around.

This Mustang crowd in 2015 is most definitely 95% like the Jap car guys. The old American car guys are almost extinct.... a lot of them are middle agers... 55+ still in Camaro's and Chargers (especially Chargers) rolling around with Mullets and dressing up for KISS concerts... Stuck in the 80's
