I am shopping for a new car, and I do like the Mustang GT. Most bang for the buck. But I noticed that the side mirrors are tiny, smaller than just about any car out there. Half the size of a 4-banger Honda sedan I was looking at some time ago, at least measured in square centimeters.
The side mirrors got shrunk from the previous generation Mustang, which were not all that big to begin with. I have no idea who in the Ford design department decided that smaller is better, reducing visibility on what is supposed to be a high performance car.
BLIS might help, but they buried that safety option in $6k of Premium / luxury, and I am mainly just wanting a strong V8, manual gearbox, and good visibility to enjoy the power with confidence.
I cross shopped the Dodge Challenger, but apparently Dodge is quite fond of the oversized sewn-in rear headrests that block rear window. That bad design persists year after year. And I didn't bother shopping Camaro, as most reviews use terms like "cons: poor visibility" and "large blind spots".
Mustang is supposedly the best visibility of the three, despite tiny side mirrors.
It's a mystery why the muscle cars are built this way, as they generally spend most of their time navigating traffic, and often very heavy traffic.
