I just got a letter today from Ford to say that, "Whilst your vehicle isn't yet scheduled for build, this is likely to be Q2 2016." This is after my dealer telling me when I ordered that I would have it in Q1 and also our friend Andy told me to expect it by the end of March/start of April, now it's looking more like Q3 2016 delivery!!! At this point I'm seriously considering moving out to the states and ordering one there, I would get a proper Mustang, get it a lot sooner and also save about £10k :frusty: I also got a letter from VW today but I don't even want to go into that
So just how did you get a letter from Ford?

I won the "Contact from Ford" lottery. I'm very lucky, many enter but only a few win :first:

Karen has emailed me this evening, saying my car is still on schedule to leave Baltimore on Monday. :amen:
So I guess my car must be at Baltimore now ?
My guess was wrong :frusty:
Update this morning, Vista shows Gate Release 13/10/15 (9 weeks after build)
Great :ford:
Just what should we believe, Karen says my Car was due to Sail 2 days ago and has been at Baltimore for some time ?????

I really think I have to stop looking on here. Its really pissing me off!
Fact is, nothing you hear can you believe. My only hope is that Ford are so useless that I ended up getting a call from my dealer come the beginning of December say " Your car is here"

I have now decided that I wont get my car before the end of Jan.

Thank you for make the purchase of my DREAM car a NIGHTMARE Ford.

You emailed your dealer and he replied??? How did that happen? I'm still waiting on my dealer to respond to an email I sent him on the 5th August and another from the 3rd September.

This is bonkers! How can they have such varying degrees of update!

I'm glad I've got the money all sorted for my car, as I agree - it really is going to be the case where there is no warning and there will just be a call from the dealer saying "come and collect it"

It really is mental - I thought the letters from ford saying they'd tell us when it was in a boat meant that they'd started to get their shit together - couldn't be more wrong apparently!

I have no problem with my dealer at all
I suspect no one picks up his emails when he's not there however.

From information gleaned elsewhere (thanks!) Vista is showing my build date as today, 15/10, so the dealer has used this, as he knows we like good news right? I guess he doesn't know we talk and that no VIN likely means no build.

I suspect that the boat info is some sort of olive branch. Once the cars are at sea they're finally out of the control of Ford US/FRAP and Ford UK probably have access to more accurate information about when they'll be arriving.

Karen emailed me yesterday to say that my car is on it's way to the docks but she also sent me a Vista screen shot that said Gate Release 29th Sept, status updated 29th Sept.

Considering it was built on the 28th, isn't that pretty quick? if believable.

"Thank you for your email, glad you have a Vin that at least means it's been built. Your Mustang was shipped today from the plant en-route to US Docks. I have an eta to dealership of the week before Christmas!!!!!This is an estimated date but I can assure you it will be delivered in December. If you would like a VISTA screen shot - see attached!"

I just emailed Karen with questions about that screenshot and I immediately got this:

"Gate Release is the latest status. VISTA doesn’t update as quick as other systems. It did say shipped yesterday as in my previous email. I don’t use VISTA as a guide as it is often out of date. I use the Ford delivery system which is more accurate within 2/3 days."

I know others have had problems but the very few times I have emailed Karen, she has replied mostly within the hour if not sooner.

Evening all.

Felt obliged to give a collective thanks as I have just spent the last hour collating excerpts from this forum which demonstrate the collective dismay amongst us. So many messages here that are aimed at Ford that I thought someone should try and help to direct them to the intended recipient. So I have written to Ford and specifically addressed the letter and the enclosure - a poster of the excerpts I collated - to Moray Callum, Jim Farley, Andy Barratt and William Clay Ford Junior as my view is that the treatment we are getting is a US decision to deprioritise RHD in favour of the unexpected success in the US market. Fat chance of it getting through but hey ho, don't get if you don't try.

I have also suggested in the letter that while their focus on the US market is understandable, we, and the Aussies, seem to be paying the price and, in recognition of that, they should show a little love and organise some way the early customers can get some US priced parts ordered through the Ford Stores and shipped free of charge to those Stores for us to pick up. Again, probably pointless but don't ask, don't get. If the suggested cancellation levels are accurate, and 180 orders at the lower price are being recirculated at the higher price, then that's a windfall of 180K which should cover the shipping cost.

Probably will get the same as I’ve had so far – sod all – but might as well have a go.

And my breaking point ? Dealer update by email – “no update yet. Will keep checking”. Not even had the “your car will be delayed” letter. Can't see that as being a good thing.

Will post if and when I get any response.
