Yep, I think that I've made my point about Ford underrating their motors from time to time. The epa has very little to do with that unless the brand is claiming more hp than there really is.
Yes, that is exactly what I was trying to convey. Ford certifies to the EPA the motor will achieve at certain fuel economy with a certain level of emissions (regardless if actual output is better than advertised). So either all of the motors are over-rated or all are under-rated, but they cant change fuel mapping between two different trim levels to get two different outputs and still get them certified together with the EPA.

That's better. They can stop the throttle body from going full open. The current 3.5TT is a great example. Expedition vs Navigator is a great example. They have many tricks.....

I'm going to throw some fuel on the fire.

I wonder if this is why all of the R window stickers I've found say NOT FOR SALE and NO EPA INFORMATION AVAILAVBLE... or something to that effect. Is it possible the R is getting a little extra tuning?

I was at the Laguna Seca event and they were very clear that the drive trains were identical.

Those window stickers were for preproduction cars, hence the not for sale.

Most Bosses I've seen make about 400whp stock, which puts them at 444 with 10% drive train loss.
Again, I'm not buying for a second that these cars are only losing 10% through the drivetrain. I haven't been able to find BHP results for the new 5 liter.

The Boss motor in my 93 made 425/381 - has longtubes and uses the GT intake (hood clearance).

I've been watching various drag (racing) videos...noting weight, MPH and ET. The more I watch, the more I'm convinced these will be SOLID 11 second cars.

Hard to tell where the track ends but a quick stopwatch timer isn't looking great. 12.20.

Of course, I'm EASILY way off - just for fun guess.
i would say that's a bad guess a ecoboost with a tune runes 12 something

If a good driver can get 12.3 out of a stock 13 Boss . I would think high 11's would be attainable for a 350 non R with 305's on the back.....Plus they have a drag mode.

On a prepped drag strip absolutely.

MT ran a 12.0 with the Boss 302 LS. So it's going to be faster I would hope.

So we could see this scenario:
Typical Magazines: GT350 = 11.8/3.9, GT350R = 11.7/3.7
Hero-runs by MM&FF or 5.0 magazine: GT350 = 11.5/3.7, GT350R = 11.2 /3.4

We will know soon enough from both ends of the spectrum.
MM&FF and 5.0 Magazine will tear it up with a good hot shoe in the driver's seat. I can think of 2 or 3 drivers who row gears and side step a clutch faster than most...almost like they don't use the clutch.

After my seat if the pants evaluation today I'd say mid 11's in an R is very feasible.
