Just wondering if anyone has any idea if Ford will be selling/fitting any Performance parts in Australia. Noticed that selected dealers in the US will be offering this and wondered if this is likely to happen in Australia. Main interest for me is cat back exhaust as importing and all that crap not to mention the cost seems all too hard.
I thought you were all supposed to be getting offered a suite of options of Ford Aust sponsored aftermarket mods from Herrods?
I know it won't suit all of you, but has it even been promoted to you by the Aust dealer network?

Herrods are supplying the superchargers for the last XR8, but I havent heard of anything along these lines and my dealer knows I am looking at this upgrade option.

Having been in the car game most of my life and having supercharged my 2004 SA FPV GT-P myself, I like the look of the American Roush kit. Looks very professional.

Herrods and KPM are offering Ford Racing, Roush and their own stuff through selected dealers, along with expensive warranties as extras, but the prices are ludicrous...if you have deep pockets, then spend, spend, spend.....the economy needs it.

I agree. Way cheaper and better (IMO) going with custom aftermarket stuff.
With supercharging though, I suppose it is 'safer' going with a pricier option
if they are willing to cover everything with a warranty.

Then again every $1 USD is now $1.42 AUD, add credit card/paypal 7 cents
surcharge to that and you're looking at $1.50~. Add postage and duty/taxes
etc onto that.

Predicting this to happen, made my order in June when the rates weren't as
bad.

Importing stuff isn't hard at all mate.

Check out my sig below. Got all those imported, sitting in my living room right now.

If all you're looking for is a catback, that won't be that much at all. Box wouldn't be too big.

Go with Lethal Performance, you won't be happier.
Hey Hybrid

Couldn't see the ARH cat back system on Lethal Performance, is it called something else?
Also if you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost you with delivery?
Cheers:cheers:

Bummer. I never new that. I was just thinking about my BA FPV Falcon that I fully worked over including supercharging. Geez the bastards are becoming very cunning. I seem to have lost track of things.
Ian.
Just as a side note...

Ford have been able to tell since the BA if they had been flashed - not at dealer level, but it is normal practice for the PCM to be analysed by the boffins in Melbourne in the event of a major (engine or suspicious trans) claim.

So, there is truth in the rumour that the DEALER can't tell if they have been flashed, but Ford themselves can and do. ;)

I suppose the answer to all of this is to buy an ECU to go with all of your mods and then if you have a problem, just put the original factory ECU back in place. Can you see any holes in this idea? Back in the days when I was building my BA, flashing the ECU and keeping a copy of the original factory tune was the normal thing to do.

I thought Harrop supply the superchargers for the 5.0L?

On the subject of flashing, since FG Ford can tell if the car has been flashed; the dealer might not be able to tell but if they suspect a car has been tuned a Ford rep will call in with his little black box and then all will be revealed.

Edit: Just saw WILDB's post. It was apparently easier to get away with it in the BA days but not possible now.

If you guys are gonna supercharge, I don't see how putting another ECU is gonna do much to hide the "small" little mod under the hood

For N/A, sure, that could work in theory I think.

How many of you guys are supercharging?

I'm definitely leaving mine N/A. Intake and tune is all I'm doing. Plus the suspension/tires/handling stuff to put the power down. Yes, I'm sure a lot of people would disagree and say "No, I need MORE!"... But for me personally, that's plenty of power for a street car as is.

Ahhh... back to work.

Harrop do. Eaton USA supply the rotors and Harrop Engineering cast the TVS supercharger casing incorporating the inlet manifold and intercooler.

Lol.. I was naturally not thinking of supercharged cars, even though technically they could be returned to standard (a lot of work). It depends whether you have a hole through the block or not....lol.

Pretty sure the Ford/Roush one requires grinding the block. Or something to that extent (ergo. Irreversible). The other ones are "bolt on". Still gonna take you the day. Or the weekend
