Just wondering if anyone has any idea if Ford will be selling/fitting any Performance parts in Australia. Noticed that selected dealers in the US will be offering this and wondered if this is likely to happen in Australia. Main interest for me is cat back exhaust as importing and all that crap not to mention the cost seems all too hard.

Importing stuff isn't hard at all mate.

Check out my sig below. Got all those imported, sitting in my living room right now.

If all you're looking for is a catback, that won't be that much at all. Box wouldn't be too big.

Go with Lethal Performance, you won't be happier.

After I take delivery, yes (all the stuff on the "mods after delivery" list).

Currently only have everything above it.

Main issue was getting Ford to install, tune and warrant the work/car so nothing voided.

Ah ok. Well, best of luck in that case getting performance stuff from the dealer. If I recall correctly, in the states, even Ford Racing parts still 'void' your warranty.

In terms of warranty in Australia, I know every dealer has somewhat varying policies. Best bet is to check what your dealer says first.

Mine are OK with bolt on mods like these (minus the tune), spoke to the manager about it even before ordering. But some will burn you over anything they can.

RE: Your catback. I doubt any dealer is going to do anything to void your warranty for a small thing like that.

Ford Australia won't warrant the tuning of cars, even if it is using Ford Racing parts. I know there are a few distributors of Ford Racing parts, however I don't believe that any of them will offer the same sort of provisions as you get in the US.

Unfortunately over here Ford Australia are very strict when it comes to tunes or any alterations to the factory ECU calibration, so it becomes very much a 'you play, you pay' scenario.

In saying that, if you were to have bolt ons which didn't require a tune, such as an intake with an 85mm MAF housing, a catback etc you should be ok - providing that any issues aren't caused by these parts.

Exactly...

Best advice as WILDB suggests... if you're going for mods/tuning, don't cry about warranty as well. Keep it stock if warranty is your concern

My advice? I ordered this car for personal enjoyment, therefore, F*** the warranty. Life is short. Do what makes you smile :p

As Hybrid suggested, importing the parts is generally cheaper.....get a few quotes....the parts prices are pretty similar between most reputable vendors.....the shipping will be the bit that makes the difference.
For the record, I have found Team Beefcake Racing to be excellent, but I have not heard bad things about many USA vendors.

Fitting a catback is dead easy...an hour or two of your time or a hundred bucks or so at your local exhaust place. I am almost sixty with stuffed legs and more than necessary bulk and changed a set of front and rear springs, shocks and struts on one of my Falcons in under four hours by myself in our carport, so it isn't hard for the average person.
I wouldn't trust a Ford dealer to change a set of wiper blades...and they want eighty bucks to do it.
They will not warranty any aftermarket mods apart from the warranty for the part itself.
Find a friendly, local, reliable mechanic if you dont want to do your own stuff. Ask around if you dont know any...they are out there and will be very helpful if you are a car nut without skills or inclination to do your own stuff.

This

As mentioned, I went with Lethal. Excellent customer service AND after sales. Perfect packaging, everything was in mint condition despite the 10,000+ KM journey.

Catback can be done in your garage at home.

Noticed you're in Sydney OP. Give Taurus Service Centre a call in Girraween. The reviews speak for themselves. I'll be taking my car there from day 1. They're genuinely very excited to install all my mods :D

And last but not least... Stuff Ford service centres...

When it comes to tuning, the best thing to do is buy yourself a Flash Tuner which will cost you around about $600-$700. With it you can simply record the factory tune on the flash tuner (really easy to do) and also record the tune after the car has been on the dyno (dyno tune). Before you take your car in for service, you simply connect up the flash tuner and download the original factory tune. That way everything will appear normal to the Ford service guys. Naturally after the service you re-connect the flash tuner and upload the dyno tune again. It is just a case of connecting to a plug under the dash that comes from the ECU.

Sorry Ian, but you can't do that on these cars. They will know that the car has been flashed, because every time you put a new tune in, the ECU tracks the number of times it's been flashed.

Check the US mod section regarding aftermarket tuners etc. No bueno.

Once flashed, assume full responsibility

Bummer. I never new that. I was just thinking about my BA FPV Falcon that I fully worked over including supercharging. Geez the bastards are becoming very cunning. I seem to have lost track of things.

Haha... yeah, sucks. Have a friend with an XR6T that did that all the time (re"stock"ify).

These Coyote engines are pretty bulletproof. Unless OP is thinking about supercharging and expecting warranty etc., a conservative N/A tune will help the engine run better if anything.

Just get a JMS Pedalmax. Improve stock throttle response AND keep your warranty. Easy.

Disclaimer: I won't be covering any damages if you decide to do anything random OP lol

There are rumours of things possibly being heading this way, but I don't know any particulars, it may be select dealers might be offering in the near future.
