I need to hang this out thereand see if anyone has a solution:

I picked up my new 2016 yesterday. Everything seemed ok! Until I tune / or tried to tune into AM stations for news. All static, every station. I mean I hit the scan button and it cycled over and over through every AM station without ever stopping on a single station. Nothing!

Its not the area I live in, both of my other vehicles get all of my usual stations. My 2015 Mustang that I just traded got all the same stations.

It does however get the satellite stations as well as FM. Phone syncs, everything elses seems ok, except no AM.

Do you think in needs a re-boot / reset or is it defective. HELP!

I'm going to guess that the AM antenna is disconnected behind the dash.

I've never seen an AM antenna in a car, it's usually built into the unit. Take it to the dealer, might be a bad radio. Most people would never catch this, but sometimes I also like to listen to talk radio on AM. Click and Clack are hilarious!

Is it too early to order a 17?

I think it sounds like the AM side of your receiver is junk. Dealer time.

You must be pretty young. Cars used to only have AM radios and they would have a 3' antenna on the fender for them. [emoji6]

Lol! 56. I dont listen to music unless its mine from my iPhone. Same reason I dont need satillite radio. I listen to AM for talk radio and the news. Thats why I odered both Mustangs with 400A, I dont need the trunk thumper. :)

Up date...went to the dealer today. They said they'd never heard of such a thing, did I live in an area that has bad reception. They actually said that. So...

I had them go out to my car to prove I wasn't imaging it, then we went over to another 2016 on the lot. That radio worked as intended.

First they did a soft boot...Master reset of Sync. Nothing!
Then they did a hard boot...disconnect the battery for 5 mins. Nothing!

They don't know if its something unpluged or if the receivers bad or the entire unit. Had to make an appointment for during the week when Ford is open.

Wow! I'm really feeling the love here. Are most of you guys drinking Haterade or what. :)

What anyone listens to isn't really the point. A $40,000 car and the radio is broke on day one. Yup! Ford will fix. But the inconvenience really sucks. Two trips to the dealer so far. One to have them check it and make an appointment, and now to bring it back.

My sales guy who doesn't own one of these cars says...He says...no problem...we'll fix it just bring it in. For me...its the same as saying...we'er going to butt &@$ÂŁ you, but it will only hurt for a little bit because we'll only stick the head of it in.

I can see how this is already going to go, dealer orders a new system, tears out my dash to do it and for the rest of the time that I own it, it'll have squeaks and rattles and I'll have scuff marks on the plastic where they tools the dash apart. it'll never be the same.

Lesson learned! If I'd have known what I know now, I'd never have taken delivery of the car. Who checks the freakin AM radio on delivery? Seriously...I just wanted to hear the news for cryin out loud. :headbonk:

Hope it works out well for you. I listen to AM a lot for the sports talk. I'll have to make sure to add that to my check list when my car arrives in a couple of weeks.

When I used to work on radios in the army there were different sections in the radio, transmitter, receiver, power, etc. It sounds like your AM section is defective, my guess is the dealer will need to replace your head unit. I also believe the AM receiver section is much weaker then they used to be.

In my 1965 Mustang, with only an AM radio, From Oklahoma City I could get New Orleans, WKYC in Cleveland, and even WLS in Chicago. Now I expect these super stations are depowered. I know KOMA lost its High Power broadcast towers in a recent tornado, but I don't think they used them any more.

Thanks! I hope you're enjoying that new mustang and don't have any issues. My 2015 didn't have any issues, I guess my luck ran out. The Ford service rep said he thought it was probably the receivers because AM is completely gone and FM has 3 stations, but the satillite works just fine.

It just pisses me off that one...I didn't notice it until after I took delivery and two...Ford doesn't check this stuff before it goes into the car during production.
