just curious what the width is between the back of the seats from recaro vs stock. in between shoulder bolsters. it looks like the stock seats might hug as well as the recaros.

The stock seats in the S550 hug a thousand times better than the previous premium seats in the S197. So much that I opted to keep the seats so I could keep the heated/cooled option lol! I'd provide measurements but my car is not here yet.

having had cars with both, no they do not. The stock seats are nothing like the recaros in terms of feel or how much they keep you planted in your seat.

If you are doing any full track or autox often...buy the recaro seats 100% no doubt

They don't hug you nearly as well but the stock seats seem to be more then enough for the daily driver, plus have electronic controls such as memory options and cooled heated as well. Recaros are all Manuel controlled but keep you from moving at all, I mean at all. Things I had to get used too with the recaros was no adjustable head support. Its was tricky getting it to my liking at first now I just wish other cars I had came with them. Also electronic memory seats would have been nice or any electronic control for them for that matter. Every time I take my kids they ask me to move the seat forward to get it, I just tell them to go too the other side and get in. Not moving it other then just the quick release to tilt the seat foward.

As a lifetime owner of two door cars and the slightest OCD, this is one of my most dreaded nightmares. I could swear for weeks my seat was not the same.

this will be a dd
I did 2,000+ miles a month in my Ecoboost with recaro seats and LOVED every minute of them...even if i quit racing i would pick the recaros mostly now that i know the stock seats hurt my back like hell.

As soon as I find someone willing to sell theirs and ship them i am buying them

I test drove a car with recaros, and the side bolsters cut into my kidneys too much to be comfortable for daily driving. I'm 6'3 with a 38 inch waist. I opted for the regular seats (leather) and they are comparable to my old 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse bucket seats in terms of side bolstering. Definitely more comfortable for daily driving (and have cooling/heating!). They still hug the back and sides, just not as extremely as the recaros. Your best bet would be to test drive both.

I test drove a car with the standard seats, they were decent, probably on par with the support that our '11 GTI gives. I did sit in another 'stang with the Recaros, and they were snug, but it a very good way, and they'll be the option I check when I buy mine. Plus, electric seat adjustments annoy the shit out of me.

I'm a pretty big guy, and was surprised at how good they felt. Everyone is different though..

Stock seats hold really well. They are as good as the seats that were in the previous model GT500s.

i hated the recaros when i first sat in them after a few hours in them i got used to them and actually like them there are still times when ill sit in them and be comfy and other times when ill have to adjust myself to feel comfortable but i attribute that to my recent weight gain lmao

I would have went with the recaros, but I wanted the cooled seats and having power seats is ok but the easy exit feature makes them great, makes getting in the car so much easier.

We have both, my wife's car has the regular premium leather heated and cooled seats, mine has the recaro. I miss the heated and cooled, mainly the heated part, but the recaros are a much more comfortable seat. I'm the only one that drives my car, so I'm fine with no memory seats.
