Hey guys, If you get the premium with MFT, can you get the dealer to add NAV option down the road?

You ever find the answer to this? I've got the 400A. No NEED for NAV, but if it's a cheap add on, might explore it.

Thanks,

Yea but his is for the base model. We already have the display and all that stuff ya know?

It wouldn't be cheap through the dealer but if you do it yourself it will be. All you need to do is buy the SD card here are some options below

http://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-FOR...AGE-/281782562347?hash=item419b8cae2b&vxp=mtr

http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/252030536669?ul_noapp=true&chn=ps&lpid=82
Is this right...? I figure it would be this simple, to just insert the SD card. but I heard that it's a completely different unit that they have to input into our cars. That seems odd for a simple SD card... If you know of people that have the 400A package and one of the SD cards from your link works... i'll absolutely do it.

I can not 100% confirm it works but i'm 99% confident because thats how my NAV came boxed in exactly the same packaging and by packaging i mean A6 chip you see on ebay. But i can test it out for you i have a friend who bought his car 200A WITHOUT NAV which is the exact same set up as yours except for the Ecoboost i can remove mine and place it in his vehicle and that should confirm whether or not it works.

That would be incredibly helpful. I've just recently been told that I'd need to reprogram my entire unit, which would be inconvenient I'm sure. If it's as simple as plugging in a $200 SD card... I'd absolutely do it, just wondering why they'd charge $700 for NAV if it's just an SD card.

If you happen to get this to work on your friends ecoboost, PLEASE let me know. I love Waze and that's what I use now, but would be nice to have the NAV, just to have it:).

Sorry guys I was talking with my friend and I forgot at the last minute the dealership gave him pretty much same deal on a car with NAV and he went that route so I wouldn't be able to test it out. However, Brice I see you're in Texas I live in San Antonio and you are probably in Houston or Austin. I'd be willing to mail you my NAV SD card to test it out on your car on the condition that you mail it back of course if interested PM me with your address and I'll mail it out today.

I appreciate the offer man, very generous of you. I'll let you know by End of day what I'm thinking. Doing a bit more research, it seems I'll have to upgrade some "APIM" thing? essentially they're saying I'll need an entirely new module. Still doing research though, I wonder why this is such a challenge.

No problem, yeah I read that before as well but it's crazy to me that Ford would make something so small, complex. :headbonk:

:eyebulge: I'm sure it's cheaper than the stealership but at least you already have a decent alternative

The biggest problem with adding nav after the fact is that you need a nav license. A simple reprogram isn't enough, you have to also install the license to use the maps SD card. That is what costs the most money.
