I'm still searching for a new auto premium mustang gt and trying to stay at around the 35k range if possible and its getting difficult to find a 16 with most of the options I want, but I think I found one in a nice color (race red), but the one option it doesn't have is voice nav. I thought I read somewhere that you can still get turn by turn directions on the base sync unit, but no voice prompts for nav obviously. Is this true and/or do you have to use a cell phone hooked up to it to work? I don't do a lot of traveling, but do have the tendency to get turned around in a new place so it would be nice to have nav so don't know if this would be a deal breaker or not.

1. you can connect you phone to Sync and run Google maps or similar...

2. also, you can upgrade your base unit (you will end doing this) with some of the existing options starting from $300

I currently don't have a cell phone as I didn't want the extra expense. I don't call people very much and really only need it for the maps and to look stuff up once in awhile. So if I were to upgrade the base unit what is available? I could see spending 300, but the one thread said it was like 1k to upgrade to nav. Maybe its more trouble than its worth and I should just continue looking for a car with the voice nav option.

btw, the car I was referring to above sounded like a decent deal unitl I inquired about their trade rates and what they may give for mine and it sounded like since they are discounting the car, they don't want to give a fair amount for the trade. Gotta love dealers...wish I could find one that didn't try to squeeze every penny they could out of ya.
