 Going to the strip next Friday for the second time in my Mustang GT 3.31 MT. Found a set of 305/45R18 Nitto 555Rs on Shelby 18 inch wheels for a great deal.

Launching softly the stock half shafts should be okay? I wont be doing any 5k dumps, maybe 3k tops slipping the clutch out.

Only Mods done to the car are the BMR lockout kit and will have the BMR vertical links in on Monday. First time at the track was wheel hop hell and couldn't hook. Best I ran a 13.3 at 109 with a 4500ft DA.

Thanks

It's rolling the dice with the odds in favor of breakage.

Yea after doing more digging I don't think its worth the risk. I thought most guys that were breaking them were launching hard, but some guys that were launching soft broke them too. Someone on here broke a half shaft on drag radials power shifting into third. Sucks, 350$ for nitto555Rs on wheels is a deal.

I rolled the dice & went to the strip about a month ago. I have a GT pp with some suspension parts. My last pass, I launched the hardest at 3k & made it thru w/o breaking...I do not speed shift this car either. Ran 12.31 @ 116.xx. AM ran their car with slicks a few times b/f it broke. Good luck!

It really is a crap shoot. I would say the majority of guys aren't having issues with the shafts breaking. With that said if you don't have the money laying around for a repair I'd think long and hard about it.

If the half shafts break only by using the drag radials then whats the purpose of the cara existence? Ford should fix it for you asap!

These cars will explode if you even put radials on, according to the bullshit you hear nowadays. The rear end will literally grenade.

The car goes 'are those radials? FUCK THAT' and shoots the shafts out of the pumpkin.

Never mind the car that just went 10.10 with STOCK HALF SHAFTS.

To be fair the 10.10 car was an Automatic which doesn't shock the drivetrain anywhere near as hard as a manual.

A friend of mine snapped a halfshaft on his manual 15 at Norwalk this summer; stock with drag radials.

It did wheel hop for a sec and that was it. I don't think you can always get out of a wheel hop situation instantly every time.

If it was me I would just probably just wing it and replace it if it broke and I could get it flatbedded back to my house for free. :D

So I was installing the BMR vertical links today, and I looked at the halfshafts. They look pretty dam weak. Can't pass up the deal on the drag radials wheel combo though. Going to try it out, I wonder if having 3.31 gears will reduce the shock?

I wonder if 3.31 gears are easier on the axles then 3.73s
