Does anyone know what would cause a manual car to clunking noise when launching on drag radials? It seems to come from right under the shifter. It almost sounds like the tranny is bumping the floor.

my guess is the drive shaft is telling you that it wants to be replaced. they are 2 made up of 2 sections.

I have a feeling it might be the driveshaft too. I am leaning toward trading the car in on an auto. I am curious if anyone else is having the thud when dumping the clutch from a standstill.

Drag radial + manual transmission + stock half shafts is a recipe for disaster.
