Ford performance tunes tend to be conservative. I ran one on a 2006 and wasn't impressed. Maybe things will be different for the S550.

I don't have a GT. A lot of talk has been around about a tune for the EB and the Coyote for awhile now. Ford has released nothing either engine. Go with a reputable tuner for your car.

problem with this is warranty. ford tune, all be it conservative, keeps the warranty on the powertrain via ford performance.
That's not entirely true. Some ford racing dealers may offer To keep your warranty but not every dealer will agree to this.

I believe the powertrain warranty is shortened to 3yr/36k with a ford racing tune.

The 5/60 powertrain warranty is replaced by a 3/36 powertrain warranty that begins on the vehicles in-service date if installed by a certified dealer/installer. So if you have 12k on your 2015 mustang and FRPP comes out with a tune AND a certified dealer installs it for you, you then have 24k of powertrain coverage remaining.

This does not preclude the normal 3/36 bumper to bumper. In other words, if you have the frpp tune installed by a certified installer at say 12k miles, you still have bumper to bumper coverage excluding the powertrain for the remainder of the 3/36

Also if you plan on having the frpp tune installed, don't bother buying an extended warranty. It won't do you any good on the powertrain.
