How many of you take your car in for service? I personally will change my oil and transmission fluid, brake pads, and anything else that I can before taking to a dealership. Only reason I will go back to a dealer is if engine blows or transmission has an issue. (I keep a log book of all service done by myself)

I'll keep mine away from the dealership as much as possible to prevent damage from sloppy work, dings or dents. I trust myself more for regular maintenance work.

I trust myself even though im still learning. I have not really spoken to one knowledgeable person at my dealership. The service manager even joked that I knew more about it then anyone he has met and said I should come work for them.

it has an engine!
I avoid dealerships. I see what other techs have done at other dealers ive worked at. No thanks. Unless its warranty work, I avoid the dealership like the plague. I always inspect the piss out of my car before I sign the paper work taking it back. I check mileage as well. Its cheaper for me to do my own fluids and I get the brands I want. Unless someone cant do it themselves, no reason to go to dealers if it can be avoided.

I only go for oil changes and free maintenance bc a lot of times it's cheaper than doing myself. Service history never hurts either. Otherwise I prefer myself

oil change is so easy. how much does a dealer charge for oil and a filter change? you have to remember, they charge you for parts and labor.
8qts of oil and a filter cost me around 60 dollars. changing it is about 30 minutes of my time.

so around the same price. have you looked to see if they are replacing the filter? i have marked mine on previous cars, taken it to a dealer, and they said it was replaced. checked the filter and the mark was still there. :headbonk:
i don't trust dealers especially since they have told me so much BS in the past.
edit - disposal is free at most autozones and the like.

I take mine in for oil changes, with the "Works" package, its cheaper than buying the oil and filter just by themselves. They also rotate the tires as part of the works.

Ill take mine in for things that are outside of my ability to repair or work on.. With that being said, obviously warranty work etc etc, but I installed my intake and my exhaust, I will be doing my own intercooler, i can easily do plugs, brakes, oil changes, tire rotations, suspension (limited), bulbs etc etc....

but if i needed serious work done, I would take it to my buddies performance shop if outside of warranty before I ever went to a dealer for that kind of service

$35 for oil change, multi-point,and tire rotation at the dealer. Worth it to me because I highly doubt I could get it done myself for that cheap and that easily - especially because my driveway is at an incline and I'm not changing oil inside my garage.

my dealer is providing free oil changes for the first year and 39.99 for every 2 oil changes (buy one get one) after. 8 quarts motorcraft syn blend and motorcraft filter

this is when i captured this footage. the footage in the service bay was not interesting so i didnt bother uploading any of it.
