Whipple or Roush can't decide

Thanks guys this is alot of good info.. I want the Whipple and don't think I need the 132mm tb and fans because the hp it already has will be fine. My current struggle is the install price + taxes + pay more through a shop for the SC than a forum vendor so after doing the math it will cost me about $3500-$4000 to go that route which is my only choice if I want the warranty. Option two would save me that $$$ if i bought off of forum and installed myself which I am perfectly capable of doing but NO warranty.. My last car I got a bad tune and 1st pass it went BOOM so I kinda want the warranty.

Gotta pay to play but it still hurts!!!

Hypermotive and lethal will discount kit so I don't think it would be 10000 dollars. Hopefully installed and tuned for that. Don't think u need boost a pump for 750 crank. Whipple is 2.9l vs 2.3 tvs. With the price being so close on the kits. But whipple will be cheaper on labor to install. I would go whipple bigger head unit. No cutting k member, liquid intercooler, more power than tvs in your scenario.

My shop is telling me same on labor / cost to install????

Everything I read says whipple is easier to install. I guess your shop is making good money on the kit and the install. The shops by me want 1300 and one place is 2000. Since you can install it yourself. I would forget about warranty. Whipple warranty covers 5000 in damage. By you doing the install and not buying warranty you are going to save almost 5 anyway.

2.9 will make much more power due solely to its size, but also due to its (as stated above) MASSIVE heat exchanger on the front. It looks like an AC condenser its so big. My installer has putting the blower on has been a breeze. With the roush kit you have to hack up the timing cover and other components, none of that is necessary with the whipple.

Also, I wouldn't sweat the warranty too much. You're putting a blower on a factory NA motor....come on, don't be that guy.

Whipple offers a warranty if you have a certified installer install it.

I'm not that guy lol, like I said I depended on someone else on my last build and after a re-tune it blew on 1st pass caught on fire at over 130 mph and I had to stop it safely get out and put out the fire and salvage what I could on a $50,000 2011 SS setup.. NO insurance and no help from builder so I am kinda gun-shy and leaning towards warranty

I have installed the Whipple kit and it is very straight forward and easy if you are mechanically inclined. Their kit not only looks amazing (in my opinion), the quality is A++ and as Whipple stated, they include everything. I would recommend adding the intercooler fan setup...especially being in Louisiana.

I can't speak for drivability yet (my PCM is headed to Whipple now) but everyone I have talked to loves their tune.

One last point.....did I mention it looks amazing under the hood?

Coming over from the Camaro side I had a Maggie TVS 2300 and although the Prochargers and other centri's did much better on dyno they couldn't touch me at the track. I am sold on roots and not centri for fun and fast but that's just my opinion.

This is slightly off topic, but I wanted to be sub'ed anyways so i'll add this: I ran into an SS the other day that was running a Maggie and that thing MOVED. I was pretty impressed.

I got the 775 kit from leathal performance with warranty, large tbody and fans for 7200.00. They had 10% off at the time. Install was $1300.00. So roughly $8400.00 all in. Worth every penny! No regrets, to be honest it comes down to who you are more comfortable with especially on a new car. I trust the product that whipple produces.

Our kit is 725 with stock throttle body, 775 with our 132mm TB. Both are warrantied.

Now when you say warrantied,......you're talking about just the Whipple supercharger and all supplied Whipple accessories, correct?
The reason I ask is because with Roush, the entire car is warrantied, whether it be by Roush or Ford. Granted the Roush supercharger and all it's accessories are warrantied by Roush and all other aspects of the car are warrantied by Ford.
I guess my questions is, what happens if I install a Whipple supercharger and my rear end starts acting up within the 3yr/36k warranty? Will Ford still warranty that rear end work/parts without any hesitation with the Whipple install?
The main reason I ask is, I've been debating keeping my '13 RS3 and getting a '16 Mustang to build up to be a weekend warrior. Not sure if I want Whipple/Kenne Bell or even a centrifugal, like a Pro-Charger at this point.

The warranty will only cover engine damage caused by the blower not any manufactures defects.

It sure sounds like Whipple is the kit for you.

I was one of the very first to supercharge a 2015 Mustang and I returned to Whipple to get it done.

There is a lot to be said for some other companies out there without a doubt but I can tell you from first hand experience you will be well taken care of by Whipple.

Their kit is second to NONE in quality/OEM integration and their tune is just brilliant. Sure, others may have squeezed out a couple more ponies but Whipple's tune is just phenomenal. Who wouldn't be happy with 670 rwhp and stock like drivability?

All I know is if you choose to go with Whipple I would definitely recommend the fans and TB. Get it all done at once and never look back. Just because you have 670 wrhp, doesn't mean you have to use it. But it sure is nice knowing it's there [emoji6]

Just b cautious when you put faith in Ford for warranty work. It doesn't matter if you have your dealer install a FFRP SC by Roush they will still fight to void warranty work. It is up to the dealer to do the necessary things to get warranty work accepted by Ford.

Mark my words there will be people posting in the future who thought they were warm & fuzzy and protected but.............
