So from what ive read, only the R or the base with track package get the tower to tower brace with the car. will those of us who ordered the GT350 with the technology package be able to buy the tower brace and have it put on at all from the dealer? any ideas on price?

I doubt it will be available initially from the dealer, but I'm certain it will be available eventually once orders come in and spares start rolling through dealerships.

I was wondering this as well. But, ultimately there will be a demand and therefore there will be someone, Ford or the aftermarket to build a quality piece to fill that demand. Count me in.

I'm fairly certain all models/options get a tower-to-tower brace. Only the Track Pack/R get the lightweight aluminum brace. The base/Tech Pack probably get a steel brace.

Take a close look at the brace in the pictures here...

That's a Tech Pack car and the brace has an impression in it. It looks to be of the same design as the (steel) GTPP brace only silver...

Now look at the brace(s) in this thread on the R, and what appears to be a Track Pack car...

There is no impression in the brace. That's the lightweight aluminum brace.

Is it really necessary? I've seen racing B302's without it. I've seen new S550's w/ perf pkg that have it. Does it just look cool or does it make a noticeable difference?

The race cars don't have it.

Yeah they have full roll cage instead.

If there was no benefit to it, ford wouldn't add weight to the R by adding one (IMO)

It definitely stiffens up the chassis.....worth every penny :headbang:

Huh, I didn't notice that any of the cage bars joined the strut towers together.

They don't, but the cage can extend up to the firewall with numerous cross bars depending on the design and can stiffen entire body enough that a strut tower brace would be redundant.
