Anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of LARGE (used my finger of size comparison) of road paint? I used goof off and it took away the small specs.... but all it did for the big ones was obsorb the color of the micro fiber towel that I was using. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried using a clay bar?

Never used one. Didn't want my first time to be on my mustang. Looks like it's time to learn.

Scratch Dr. will take it off. When I was teaching my daughter to drive she rubbed a yellow painted steel pole in a gas station and that rubbed out. It was a huge bright yellow smear on a black car.

Dry paint scrapped on and wet paint splattered on will act different. That said, worth a shot. Worst case, 2000 grit and polish.

That stuff is more like road rubber. A clay bar won't take it off. Nothing is going to dissolve it short of taking off the paint finish below it. My wife drove over fresh yellow road striping and I had to take a power washer to the inside of the wheel wells to get it off another vehicle of ours. And I had to carefully pick off the hardened rubberized paint with a fingernail.

I'd suggest the same to you. As carefully as possible try to pick it off with a fingernail and when finished use a scratch remover or gentle polish on the spot if you fingernail scuffs the clear coat. Don't use a power washer on painted surfaces though. You are lucky there are just 2 big spots. I literally had hundreds of small splatter spots to pick off. Good luck. :)

DO NOT use anything other than WD40......Spray the whole area with WD40 and let it sit overnight then hand wash. It melts right off and is safe for the paint and clearcoat. I know of this directly from MODOT and it worked amazingly. If all of it doesn't come off with the WD40 you can go to petroleum jelly overnight and that gets the rest of it.

Did you let it sit overnight? And if the WD doesn't work did you try the petroleum jelly overnight? I had white road paint all down the side of my last car and this was the ONLY thing that worked.

They use this crap on the roads for a reason. So the lines don't wear off and weather and chemicals cannot dissolve them. This isn't really paint more like hardened rubber. I haven't found anything that takes it off that I feel comfortable using on painted/clearcoated surfaces. Its a pain in the ass but picking them off with a fingernail then going back over the area with a mild scratch remover or polish is the only way I've ever been able to do it.

I dumped a bunch of WD 40 on a rag and left it set overnight. When I checked on it this morning, it was starting to come off a little. Problem is its big globs of it... so it will take a while.
