If you get a "base" GT 350 without Magneride, what struts/shocks do you get?

Just as the title says. Do we know? Same as a GT or are they upgraded?

No info on base suspension so far but they would have to be upgrades/different from the GT PP.
Does anybody have plans to get the base and upgrade to coilovers?
Or get the magneride and add lowering springs?

I am buying a base GT350, if you can call it "base". I am hoping for Bilsteins or something...

I am definitely lowering it, it needs a good 1" drop.

Plus I hear you can't lower it easily with Magneride?

In the same boat. I'll be looking into some H&R, ohlins and even jrz coilovers

Untrue. I know plenty of folks who have lowered their ZL1 Camaro's and CTS-V's with no issues.

This one I would not lower nor go with coilovers.

Ford has tweaked this suspension to the extent that the left side coils are spun counter clockwise for perfect balance. Changing the springs will make you lose this dynamic.

Might not mean a lot to some but to me its a balance and predictability I want to maintain.

I originally wanted the tech pack but now I'm thinking the base car might be too good of a deal to pass up. I'm interested to see how good the base suspension is and if the MagneRide is really worth it. I plan on lowering the car slightly as well and I hope that Ford Racing develops lowering springs that will not mess with the geometry too much for both the base and MagneRide cars.

ive never had a magnetiride car but I would think it would be a game changer to have a truly adaptable suspension to suit whatever situation you want.

You can equal or better the Magnaride suspension for performance w.aftermarket coilovers, but in doing so, you will greatly sacrifice comfort and ride quality. The ability to do both very well is where the Magnaride truly excels.

You don’t want to know
The ability to adapt to fast-changing conditions is where the Magnaride excels too. For example, if you hit a chuckhole, the suspension will adjust to compensate before you hit the other side of the hole. Or when the car goes airborne, the system senses the lack of load and adjusts itself before the car lands. If it's that responsive in these types of conditions, imagine what it can do everywhere from driving to work to running at track days. I can't wait to have that technology at my fingertips.

Yeah it's a gamble making the assumption that MagneRide will be worth the money. I'm willing to make that assumption based on the fact that Ford decided the GT350 had to have MagneRide. It's not just a GM gimmick, or a way for luxury manufacturers to get more $ for their cars; it actually does something quantifiable.

I would say people can wait for the reviews to help decide whether MagneRide is really worth it, but I think car reviewers' main job is to help the manufacturer sell cars. I don't trust that I will agree with what the reviewers say.

I'm prepared to be very surprised if Ford offers lowering suspension for the GT350. I sure hope they already set it up at what they think is the best height. Otherwise what the heck are they even doing?

Note that race cars don't use the MR technology. It would have been easy for GM to add MR dampers to the Z/28 but they didn't. They excel for cars that are both street and track driven but they still aren't there for the true TraKWeapon. ;)

I'd look at CorteX/JRi dampers in either the single or double adjustable variety depending on your budget.

The base car does sound appealing but if you're going to track your car and drive it on the street the TP car has the three coolers and Recaro's. If you're going to make it into a track day only car with race seats, roll bar, G-Stream wing and race dampers then get the base car and have at it.

My bet is the lower R springs are going to be a popular mod on the other MR equipped GT350's.

?? the R is lower than the GT350? I know the R has shorter tires by 1 inch, but I did not realize the car was lower do to springs....

The Shelby GT350R Mustang is a no-compromise car in the pursuit of maximum track capability,” said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development. “It is a thoroughbred street car making use of technology and ingenuity to deliver performance few enthusiasts have ever experienced.”

The car features the first-ever production V8 from Ford with a flat-plane crankshaft – the most powerful naturally aspirated engine Ford has ever produced – plus a specially tuned suspension. It is fitted with revised spring rates and antiroll bars, lower ride height, unique track-tuned alignment settings, revised bushings and jounce bumpers, cross-axis ball joints in the front suspension, and revised calibration controlling the MagneRide dampers.
