Anyone know the paint thickness on '15s

I 2nd this....paint is soft and thin just as it was on my 11 GT; If you daily drive it, go ahead and order a touch up kit. Ordered the Motorcraft color matched paint and clear a week ago.

I have a couple chips at 5k miles, its expected. A clear bra would do wonders.

In for paint thickness.

Agreed a clear bra will help a lot if you live anywhere with any amount of rocks or gravel.

I actually have to resort to splash guards myself, they don't get the roads cleaned up properly until June around here, and my GT is my daily.

My detailer pretty much said the same thing on the soft paint that Ford uses. I left the lot with a practically brand new car that had 3 miles on it at the time. To my surprise the next morning I looked at it was COVERED in paint swirls and micro scratches. I had to take it in for full paint correction and coated with Modesta. Even then my detailer let me know it won't protect it 100% but it'll help.

I had originally wanted to do a Paint protection film as well on top, but he let me know those would get swirl marks as well. I figured it would be pointless because the cost to replace the film would not be cheap

This has nothing to do with the soft paint, but the dealer as almost always scratch the life out of new paint. Dealer didn't touch mine when it came in and after a proper first wash and maintenance routine there is not a single scratch or swirl in it......

Sorry no measurement yet, I am just finishing up a 40 hour work day, need to sleep and will get a few measurements when I can.

Just got my car in yesterday.

Here is the readings in microns I have these are all the mean scores of 3-4 locations:
Hood 163
Roof:138
Trunk lid: 139

Now there are areas on the car that paint is not even even. Most new cars Ive worked on have had close enough numbers but this car seems weird.

Right rear quarter panel were it meets the trunk:193
A few inches to the right:147
A few inches down:125

I also notices that the doors were in the 130s and as you went lower on the car it had less paint. I guess atleast the car has a thick hood
