I had a power transformer on a power pole, leak some of the oil they are filled with, on a Celica I once owned. The oil did quite a bit of damage to the paint similar to what is shown in picture. I got a fresh paint job from the power company for the damage.

Quick question, how long did the car go unobserved before that was noticed? Seems like on a white car it would be noticeable, unless vehicle went unused for a few days.

Can that happen overnight on a hot day?

Looks like cracked c!earcoat.

I agree it looks like the clear cracked. Probably something go on the paint like bird shit or sap. If it doesn't get cleaned off right away it can eat at the clear coat and weaken it until it cracks. Then dirt gets into the cracks.

I've seen this before on some youtube videos. It's a failure of the paint below the surface - most likely caused by heat. Sometimes referred to as "crows feet" i believe. Only fix is a respray.

Not sure about you guys in the US, but in the UK some have had success with a warranty claim on paint - we have a 5 (or maybe 10) year paint warranty.
