Which car to get? Manual or auto?

What do you guys think is better and more fun? Auto or manual? Car will see some track time and probably a turbo kit one day. Thanks

For the track the auto will run quicker and have more consistent times. I personally don't track much and the manual to me is more fun to drive. I don't care that its slower lol. If i got a auto I know for sure I would regret it everyday lol

Driving an automatic Mustang would seem boring to me. A go pedal and a stop pedal. Just. Like. A Taurus.
I don't care if an auto is "faster" drag racing. Who has time for that or heck even the money? I enjoy my GT but the heck if I'm going to beat on it and race people. I need this car to do things...like start and run every single day without stuff breaking or risking crashing it.

LOL Dude posts a prolonged rant about not wanting to race. Scared? Sissy? Then posts a photo of "THE MAN PEDAL" !:lol: might as well get a Taurus if your going to drive your 3'peddle mustang like a soccer mom.

Now to the OPs question. Automatic is more convenient in traffic. Auto is going to be faster at the drag strip and at stop lights when those pesky Camaro SSs start revving at you. Much easier to launch compared to a manual! The manual is a more pure driving experience. Fun on back roads and will likely be faster around a road course or autoX. Cheaper purchase price. A pita in heavy traffic.

also ask yourself is this my second car? daily driver?

With a turbo kit in the plans , a definite power adder , I would say go auto if you plan to race and go over 500 HP, but even then Iam not sure how the ford OEM auto tranny will hold up under more hp/torque.

My last 2 GT 's were manual but I did not plan on tracking the cars. In my opinion the manual gives you more control, better fuel economy and is cheaper on the sticker price.

Auto - daily stop and go traffic , 1/4 mile performance, reliability.
Manual- Recreational driving , slow shifts , broken parts, notchy gears, missed gears, showing off exhaust.

If you ever go turbo, you will have to change out your manual.

This is what I like. I have read how good the 6R80 transmission is and how strong it is. Is the manual as strong? How about the clutch? Will any of that hold up to 500+ HP? I love a manual as I love banging gears as much as the next guy but I also love going fast and as already mentioned traffic can be a real bitch in a manual. I have read that many people like putting the auto into sport mode and using the paddle shifters too. I am so torn on what to get.

This is what I am afraid of if I go for the manual. I am afraid I will regret not getting the auto.
