Sorry, should have specified. Appreciate the insight! I know a guy who tracks a 2014 5.0 and I believe he runs a 40 weight also.

Does anyone know what the factory GT PP brake pads are in terms of a part number or manufacturer? I have also been looking around at places to purchase the OEM front rotors on the Brembos but it looks like there's not too much out there so far, lots for the normal GT but I'm having trouble finding PP specific parts on websites.
If your interested I can set you up on a nice deal for 2 piece rotors and Ferodo pads.

I also have a set of GT PP rotors I can sell for cheap

They have maybe 1400 miles on them

I have my very first autox this weekend out at nola motorsports park. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. Haven't decided if I'll run FS or CAM.

48! Man I wish I could find a group with only 48! We usually have 80-100 lol we only get 6-7 runs with most groups due to so many cars.

Same here. ~80 seems to be average, comes down to 50 only if there is a rain threat.

Do you guys think a base GT non-PP could be made competitive with a PP car in STU/STP? The way boardkat's GT looked and ran at the Packwood CT is inspiring me to look at the possibility of a ST prep.

The thing I don't like about the GT PP in Street or ST are the large Brembo brakes, which limit setup to 19s and above or expensive 18" custom wheels. One thought I had was get a base GT and do an option package conversion for the chassis bracing and pillow ball control arms, minus what you'd throw away anyway for ST but then I noticed the brake kit allowance for ST doesn't allow for smaller than stock rotors. Dang.

So, getting down to nuts and bolts is it doesn't look like you can add the upper triangulated strut tower brace or lower chassis brace from the PP to a base GT. Also, the pillow ball control arm doesn't look like it would be within the bushing allowances. I wonder how much of a difference that would make in concert with all the other ST allowances. Any thoughts on that?

When you are just beginning it is much easier to compare your learning progress if the only variable is the driver versus if it is driver and/or car. FS has very few significant "car" variables assuming PP 2015. Tires, shocks, and maybe rear bar plus the usual alignment (maximize front negative camber is the most significant). CAM or Street Touring bring in a zillion other variables that will also be hard for a "still on the steep part of his learning curve" to evaluate for your own car, let alone the other CAM or ST cars.

So, if YOU personally want to learn how to be fast stay in FS.

Steve, yes a non PP will be competitive with a PP car in ST trim, but will any S550 be competitive in STU? I don't think so. I am running 275s now in FS and the added wheel width you can get in STU would be helpful, you still don't get much more tire.

STP, if it happens, will be a different story.

So this is probably a terrible question but Ill ask anyway.

Many years ago in a galaxy far far away.....I raced FS AutoX. Fast forward 25 years.

When you talk of FS I start thinking of all the things available today from BMR and Steeda and others (cai's and tunes). When I get my GT I plan to do some AutoX and some track days and maybe more on the track (non-AutoX), most definitely things like the silver state classic. Probably more track than AutoX is I can find the time, not wheel to wheel though.

Now that I have muddied the waters greatly...is there an easy way to determine say in "FS" class what components of Steeda, BMR, Engine Tunes etc. we can or cannot do without having a lawyer look at the rules, basically a cheat seat.

Or is it just something we have to learn, which is ok also. But it would be cool if there was as sticky that summarizes this stuff, although I am sure I have no idea what Im asking for ;). Im sure you guys bang your head against the all trying to figure it all out.

Here is a cheat sheet:

http://cdn.growassets.net/user_file...ference_of_Category_Allowances.pdf?1432652727

The Street class rules are very straight forward starting with it it doesn't say you "can" it means you "cannot".

Basically the car has to stay factory stock. NO changes except as specifically allowed by the rules.

For a 2015 Mustang the significant items are:

Tires can be changed to TW200 tires such as the Bridgestone RE71R

Shocks/dampers can be changed

Either a front OR a rear sway bar can be changed

Front camber for our cars can be increased per the method in the factory service manual (slot)

Wheels with up to 7 mm increase or decrease in offset can be used or the equivalent spacers. Wheel width cannot change from the width that is stock or optional with a specific option package version of the car that you have. That is with a PP GT 9 inch front and 9.5 inch rear. You can change front and/or rear diameter by 1 inch in either direction.

Cat back exhaust changes are allowed but you still need to pass sound regs for the event and site.

Air filter ELEMENTS can be changed as long as they fit in the stock housing without modification.

NO Tunes including changing the rev limiter setting.

Brake pad material can be changed.

The rules are available here:

http://www.scca.com/pages/solo-cars-and-rules

Compete rule book

http://cdn.growassets.net/user_file...Solo_Rules_book_online_reduced.pdf?1435162317

Street classes including FS:

http://cdn.growassets.net/user_file...tion_13_street_category_online.pdf?1435160557

See also the F Street thread.

ST rules are also restrictive but with far more options. SP rules go beyond ST and CAM of course is almost "run what you brung".

You're talking what mods you can and can't do? I've glanced through the scca solo rulebook and I know it lists all of that in there but I don't remember exactly where the line is drawn. I'll have to look again tonight.

Edit: ^ post above sums it up lol
