Sounds like he gave you some very sound, free advice. May I give you some, as well?... Don't do that crap again, man!!! Stop signing your name to crazy-arse documents.

No problem at all. I mean that is the short version to a 2 hours conversation on the topic and possibilities.

Believe me, most people are less intelligent then we even think and probably believe they have this binding document in their hand. I had a question online, it was a public Q&A so not confidentiality issues, where some presumably old guy, a retired disabled vet, asked the lawyers if he could sue the bank because he has PTSD and the bank foreclosing for 6 years was causing sever mental anguish. The obvious answer was and they are foreclosing because you didn't make you payments, and you've been living there for 6 years for free, and you caused your own alleged mental anguish here so what do you want to sue for exactly.

Point being there are more people that truly believe the crazy crap that comes out of their mouth then you would believe. It's actually scary.

I'm not sure I'm buying the part about more honest dealerships than not stuff. :D
Well in respect to this issue of honoring the MSRP/deal. I think the selling it out from under the ordering customer will be a rarity rather than the norm.

My recent experience with a dealership has been a train wreck. I found a dealership that provided me their asking price for a GT350R and I accepted. The salesperson took my credit card info for a deposit of which he told was not a hold for the vehicle, but confirmation that I was proceeding with the purchase. He went on to say that the business or finance department would be contacting me the next day to discuss paperwork etc and I could finalize my colour choices after that was completed. I received a call from the salesperson the following day to let me know that there were two other people interested in the car and the dealership would accept the highest offer after the weekend, to which I replied that it is not possible to accept bids on a car that I already agreed to purchase at their asking price. I then reached the sales manager who gave me a completely different story. He went on to tell me that he had received another deposit on the car before mine was taken. I will be talking to the GM of the dealership tomorrow, and completely disgusted with the experience. I have contacted a lawyer, but hope to get resolution. Will keep you posted, but damn this sucks!

Good grief. Good luck.
Thanks. To think I let my deposit go on another R where the ADM was just too much to bear in order to secure this more reasonable ADM
one that the dealership is trying to screw me out of...

I have to say, I'm amazed at the shenanigans that are taking place with some of these Ford Dealers. I was in a similar situation as Teddy almost 2 months ago, and the dealer (Leif Johnson in Texas) pulled the same stuff. Unbelievable.

Have others experienced this type of bait and switch dealer behavior with Ford on other vehicles?

To be honest, these experiences are REALLY souring my view on Ford Dealers in general. Maybe this behavior is a byproduct of the Ford Dealership Cuture...who knows. All I know is that there are other brands that I've dealt with that are MUCH more customer centric and would never treat people the way some of us have been treated. It's nuts!

I'm really curious to see if people have run into similar situations with other brands. Please do tell.

This happens with any car that has more demand than supply. Because Ford is giving dealers limited allocation, and because there is huge interest in the car right now, the dealers can goad customers into bidding over MSRP in order to secure the vehicle. Hopefully Ford will get production going and will eliminate the allocations and just allow dealers to order at their own discretion. Once anyone can walk into a dealer and place an order, the prices will be reasonable.

Try to order a Cayman GT4 and I think you'll see something similar, while a 911 GT3 is probably much easier to get.

It's not Ford's fault that the dealers are extorting the wallets of customers in the name of limited production. i applaud Ford for offering a car such as this and if they wish to honor history in low volumes, just as they did in the 60's, then that's their business.

Now if dealers that charged crazy allocations were penalized by the loss of future allocations because of their greedy behaviors that may address the problem.

it actually is partially Ford's fault for not publicly stating how many care are going to be built of each model for '16-'17 and beyond. While they're at it, why don't they actually explain the allocation process and list participating dealers in the SVT program.

Why would you absorb the allocation fee when he is going to make ten fold that on the R

It was to not insult him. And I also told him I would gladly write a check for the 10k over on the "R" only if I could make it out directly to Parkinson's Research charity on behalf of his dealership, this way it does not go into his pockets, it would go to something honorable that both he and I could take away from it.

When I said that over the phone...I got a lot of stuttering in response. I'm going to sit down and chat with him in person this weekend. And I will definitely tell him if he wants to sell the GT350 and the "R" in one full swoop....then I have some friends who are interested in it for what Ford said would be surprisingly affordable.

Then maybe I'll split my allocation fee with the buyer of the "R" and make everyone happy.

He did try to say every dealer would be asking 5k over on the GT350 and 10k over on the "R", but then I told him "sure they can ask and an intelligent person who did their homework would find a lot of other options for the same price", he agreed to that statement so I added "if you like pushing customers out the door to some other product then that's how you do it."

Will see how it goes with this guy on Saturday. Otherwise I still have my original order in with a smaller dealer closer to home. The butt clincher was he said even if I pay cash in full he's still required to run a credit check???? Is this true?

BTW...just throwing this out there.....

Anyone interested in the GT he's going to get?

Look, the dealers ALL bought into this program when they forked over $1000 to participate. They asked to be part of the program. Even prior to the forking over of the $1000 participation fee, Ford never told them how many units would be produced... there was speculation from a certain few auto magazines who sourced Mustang6G.com as the source, citing that 5000 units/year would happen. So far, no one has been able to pin that down, but a few on here have heard from the higher-ups of the Shelby program that this car would follow the production numbers of the 12/13 B302.

When the dealers got wind of those low volume numbers and they started witnessing the crazy-arse popularity and demand for this car, they started seeing $$$. When I signed my contract to purchase my car, Ford humbly asked that all dealers respect the MSRP. They can't force anyone to do any different.

Then you have the dealers who are not motivated to get educated about the process, nor educate their salesman... a perfect example would be Cruiznaround who dealt with a salesman who didn't even know how to read the order sheet. I also have encountered a dealer who kept sitting on emails from Ford as to what allocations they received.

So you can't blame Ford... this is some of the crap that comes along with low-volume production of any sort.
