Look how down they are...

Day by day, fewer and fewer people believe a sub-3500lbs V6 is possible.

They have a V6 at 3450lbs

I was almost, but not quite(because- 1st time out) disappointed in the results of that race. I looked things over though and decided it's not so bad. 2 GT350R-C (think that's what they're called) entered(and 1 BOSS302) as well as 4 Z/28R cars, one of which won the race.

The 158 finished 4th, right? The 15 started on the POLE, but for whatever reason, finished 7th. POLE for the 1st race... good. The thing about endurance racing though, is anything can set ya back.

Looking at the difference between the finishing of the 2 new C cars vs the BOSS R... big difference, I think. I also think things are going to get better as these drivers learn the cars, etc.

I can't wait to drive them back to back to see which one is the most fun....
They should both be fun. But the gt350 should win merely because its a brand new car with more power and less weight. How could it lose?

Usually the Chivy guys say that more torque is better or overhead cams are bad or something like that.

Just because a car is 1 year newer doesn't make it better.

More power and less weight - I agree that is a factor! :)

More advertised peak power doesn't tell the whole story.

I tracked (2.5 mile road course) my stock 3,950lb 2014 SS Sedan rated at 415hp & my 3,600lb 2013 Mustang GT rated at 420hp + had Corsa exhaust & a shaker hood. My SS Sedan with less peak hp + 350lbs was able to pass/pull away from my Mustang on any place on the track including the long straight. We were only hitting speeds of 140mph on the long straight so above that I would think the GT would catch up/surpass due to the weight/peak power advantage.

I ended up dynoing both cars (same dyno, same tech) The SS(LS3) had alot more power below 3,500 rpms but also had more power all the way up to 6,500 rpms then my GT(Coyote 5.0) kept pulling til readline yielding 15rwhp more than my SS.

No you're completely mistaken, displacement has nothing to do with power ability or delivery.

(Please note: this post is 195% sarcasm)

Why am I having a hard time believing this? Something doesn't add up. But that could just be me.

Nothing he says adds up. We just accept that he likes to dream.

It wasn't the results that any of us were expecting either. There was 2 other 2013-14 Mustang GTs in our group that both had some Roush upgrades that both my son & I kept laping every session (we had 6 20min sessions). From talking to the other Mustang drivers they were regulars at the track but more conservative than my son & I.

It may only be one model year newer but that chassis has been around since 2010 and then engine is even older. The gt350 chassis and engine are both brand new. Torque is nice for a street car but to much on the track makes it harder to put the power down when exiting some turns. Bit those high rpm's really pull strong on the straights. Any lack of "low end" is made up with more aggressive gearing.

Do you ever record your track runs? I'd love to see that SS do work.

I tried using the "Larry's Lap Timer" ap but I ended up recording too big of a file so it couldn't overlay on the track.

The SS has pin you back in the seat freight train style speed from 60+.....That car will leave a grin on your face. I dont know if its that fast or that its that fast for what it is. I learned one thing from my test drive and thats I wont be tangling with an SS until I have a new car..
