I have been using this type of portable tool set chest at home and I found out it fits perfectly in the trunk of our Mustangs without getting in the way of the spare tire cover. If you don't have the Shaker Pro option, it's a perfect fit in that space. If not, then you can place it all the way against your rear seats, but putting it in place of the Shaker Pro is more convenient. To stop it from sliding around, I placed two squares of velcro under the tool chest. One piece of each rear corner and it's very important that you place the velcro pieces to the rear of the chest. Just think about the physics of something rolling over.

The model I have in the pictures is the Great Neck 205 Piece Tool Kit

The one I use at home has less pieces and is also cheaper from Walmart called Hyper Tough 86-Piece All-Purpose Tool Set

Both sets are the same dimensions.

Love this idea. Definitely gonna get one. Between this and the cargo net I just ordered, my trunk will actually look organized.

Do you think a tool box that is 3 inches longer will fit in there? I have my eye on one that is similar but 17 inches in length instead of the 14 you are using.

The toolset is not just for the car, although it really came in handy when installing my intake, but I also bike a lot and carry a lot of bikes. My cousins are all homeowners and I got tired of bringing my tool box out of my house to the car every time they needed something, so keeping one in the car is a win win for everyone

That claw hammer and level is going to come in real handy! Seriously, think about it. What are you going to be able to fix on the side of the road other than a flat? If you feel secure totin a tool box around, choose wisely and don't carry around extra weight. You would be better off with a tire plug kit and a small compressor and a roll of duct tape.
I use to carry a toolbox when I drove a beater around, and 8 out of 10 time, I never had the correct tools needed or I needed a floor Jack and stands to get under the car.
Now if I could figure out how to squeeze this into my trunk....

Feel the hate.
Listen, I agree that it is a strange post. But basically he is a "handyman" for his buddies. Something goes wrong at their home and they call him. Why do they call him? Apparently they do not have tools of their own.

Well hell, if he's a handyman helping others, cudos to him! I figured this was a roadside assistance for his new car toolbox.
But OP, be careful. Next you'll be stuffing that 10" Delta miter saw in the trunk and strapping 2X4's on the roof!
No kidding, I bought my '66 Fastback from a guy that did just this thing. He used it as a truck. I probably have 20 hours in making the roof right again. He had chains wrapped around the trunk lid hinges to hold the bumper up so he could pull his trailer.
It wasn't pretty!

Actually, when I was helping my cousin with yard work last week, we were removing a cracked slab of limestone step and needed to mortar and level a new 6ft step. The ruler, level and hammer came in real handy lol

This little portable toolbox really doesn't weigh much or take up any room at all.

Oh hell, a rag top! You could toss a sheet of plywood in the back seat as long as you keep it under 40 mph!
I actually saw one of those Chrystler Roadsters one day slam full of pine straw bales as he was leaving Lowes.

(OK, I'll admit it. I shoved a 10' section of PVC in mine last week for my kitchen remodel.)

BTW, red seats, calipers and the T, very sexy on that black car!
