Next time be smart and call the cops right when you get hit. None of that stuff would have mattered if you would've already made the call and hung up

that sucks man. it looks like a pretty small mark which isn't too bad. If it makes you feel any better two days after buying my 2015 a rock flew up and cracked my windshield, shortly after that a 7.62x54 casing somehow punctured and went through my rear tire, after that some kid threw a chunk of hard dirt and it shattered my driver side mirror, the kids took off before I could catch them then a few weeks ago a kid riding his bike down my street that my car door was a perfect place to fall down. his bike tore up my door and rear quarter panel and I'm still waiting for his parents to give me the money for it(though I have a police report, but then I'd have to sue them). luckily I've got the car all fixed from everything, but still just a royal pain. anyway, hope it all gets taken care of and fixed for you man. good luck

So, I got an estimate from a local repair shop, and there is body damage under the car, as well as the whole bumper needing to be replaced, he estimated 1500 up to 2000 depending on what damage is there that can't be seen with everything on the outside. I think I can get the bumper cover already painted, so that may save a few hundred dollars, but I am trying to get this guy to just give me what money he can, but he is insisting I go to this shop of his. I think this whole thing is a way to get my car in there, so they can take out parts and what have you. Still refuses to give me the insurance information, so I offered the deal of I get my guy to fix the car, they pay for 700 of the repairs, and I pay the remainder, but once again, no answers.

Damn, even worse luck than I had! How much was the total repairs? Also, from now on, first thing I am doing is calling the police whenever I have even a minor bump. Now I am out a fairly sizable chunk of money, and this guy gets off scot free? Forget that noise.

Holy shit. Why would it take three and a half weeks? Lots of body damage? Thankfully my damage is fairly minimal. I figure, fixing the slight body damage shouldn't take long, and then it's just replacing everything inside the bumper, and the bumper cover.

A lot of the parts they had to wait on, my sensors, bumper brackets and few other things had to be ordered. I have a Chevy Cruze as a rental car. Smh worst weeks of my life.

That sounds horrible. Thankfully, my car is completely okay to drive, so I can just drive it until the parts arrive. Still sounds like a terrible time lol.

Why are you not contacting the police? Not sure if they can persuade the guy to hand over his insurance, but worth a try. Plus it is possibly the law in your State to have a police report filed if the damage is over $1000

It still amazes me how many people don't call the police immediately and have a report done at the scene..no matter how small the crash.
I was a traffic cop for twenty years. Trust me...if you don't get a report, at the time and place it happened, you're f'ing yourself every time. Don't bother calling them two days later....they will laugh.
So that may be a dumb question - but are you supposed to call 911 to get cops out there ?

Never had a need to and hope I won't, but was wondering if that's the right number to call since most of the stuff happening is definitely non-emergency...

Not really. They would prefer you use their normal dispatch for minor stuff that isn't emergency. You won't get any sort of slap on the hand for some thing like this, versus, say, calling 911 because your neighbors dog crapped in your yard.

Everyone should have local, county and state police numbers in their phones.

There is a law that all drivers must report an accident with over 1001 dollars property damage to the dmv. But it seems like a waste of time. My step father is an ex cop, and he said its useless to even call the police after the fact. Im just going to deal with the repairs and learn from it. No big deal.

In my area it is estimated that 30% of the cars on the road don't have insurance. As far as "certain repair shops" and dealers reporting to CarFax, if you file on insurance, your's or someone else's, it will be on CarFax.
