Take it to a "in network" shop. That way your insurance will cover damage that shows up later. I Fucked up that way once.

This^^^^

If something is missed you go back to the insurance and it has to be fixed. The last thing a body shop wants is to fall out of a large insurance network due to bad work.

Looking at your pictures I must ask you this. It may be an optical illusion but is your roof bent even a little bit? The rear window glass is broken and it looks like the roof is bent.

The reason I ask is because when my 2020 Mustang GT was totaled by a whitetail deer the roof was bent and the roof is a structural member so it was going to have to be replaced. Imagine trying to get the new roof on without window leaks etc. My body shop recommended I ask State Farm to total it.

Go to a body shop that offers a lifetime warranty on repairs. I used Gerber here for another accident to the same Mustang that I no longer own and I was very happy with them. That was a rear end collision that happened before the whitetail totaled it and that didn't look as bad as yours but cost $7k to fix. I was happy with the repairs but that was a straight on collision and it looked very straight forward and simple.

I agree with you. Your frame is probably twisted and you'll probably have alignment issues etc in the future. Demand that the insurance company total it. What company is it?

A wrecked rear quarter panel? It'll never be right, poor resale or trade in value.
If you bought the car back the title would be stamped "salvage" and that should be the deciding factor.

for the masses most body shops being trash isn't a problem. I doubt you'd notice most of the things I do. its a curse, honestly. blame autism.

as a general rule, most body shops are trash. to argue that and then to also argue "well you have to be choosy about where you go" is to argue and prove the point at the same time.
Again , it must be the shops you use and hang around. Every industry , trade has hacks. So your thinking does not fly . That just because you have to research them = they all are trash.

I was recently rear ended by a big delivery van and the majority of the impact was concentrated on the left rear end of the bumper.
After getting rear-ended and getting hurt, the biggest thing I regret was not getting a lawyer. You didn't mention (though I didnt read all the messages here...lol) if you were inside it or not. I hope you are alright.

Anyway, if this was a UPS, Fedex or something along those lines, I would seriously get a lawyer. Their insurance company is likely to walk all over you - at best they would just fix the car. But, there are a lot of other things that they are responsible, compensation for work lost, car rentals / everything that goes into that inconvenience, injuries (if any) and pain and suffering (emotional counts!)

Mine wasn’t as bad as that. Damn bro.. 35 MPH, right into my rear end. But yeah that looks like a total loss. I’m sorry man.
