Well I ordered the MGW shifter and the Steeda clutch line also .. Plan is to install my new Exedy clutch and light weight flywheel all at the same time ..

Yes it's a lot of money but if it fixes missed gears and possible damage to the M82 trans it will be worth it .. I really think the M82 is not that bad of a trans , I believe most of the problems the trans has are linked to the factory shifter ..Sure it's ok for a DD but racing is where it becomes a problem .. I know of two people that have lost third gear from missed shifts , I don't want to be number three ..

Barton still bolts to the body and uses parts of the factory sloppy shift linkage ..
This is what I have been trying to find out in differences between Barton and MGW!!

What are the other major differences?
How is the price comparison on each?
THANX

I went with Barton this time mostly because it allowed me to retain the reverse lock out.

MGW's current race spec shifter doesn't retain the reverse lock out, but they did say they are releasing a reverse lock out version some time soon (you might want to call and confirm with them if you're leaning towards MGW.
The MGW shifter does have the reverse lockout feature. However, the MGW design requires the driver to push the shifter down to engage it. MGW said they may release a "pull up" version of the reverse lockout in the future.

This is what I have been trying to find out in differences between Barton and MGW!!

The MGW is $475, but if you phone in your order and explain that you are a member on the SVT Performance forum they knock 5% off. There is about a 3-week lead time on the MGW because they are built to order.

The Barton is $450 and is readily available from Barton, as well as a number of third party vendors. It does reuse a number of parts from the Ford OEM shifter, but Barton clearly explain why they do so.

I recommend you watch the Barton and MGW videos. Both vendors have detailed videos on specs and installation. I've linked them below. Originally, I was going to go with the Barton. But, I changed my mind after watching the MGW videos. Why? Push down reverse lockout. The MGW seems slightly superior in terms of manufacture. MGW's videos are more descriptive. The MGW mounts directly to the transmission via three points (no rear bracket).

If you're motivated to replace the OEM shifter, I don't think you could go wrong with either the Barton or the MGW.

MGW is as good as it gets for any Ford Mustang. I have one in my '05 and shifting is great. Just push it forward and it falls into 3rd gear at 7500 rpm's every time.

MGW is what I plan to go with later. I have yet to have any issues with my transmission. I seriously do not understand where all the complaints are coming from. My civic si felt great to drive but spirited driving (taking the motor to redline) particularly my 1st to 2nd shifts felt like the transmission was made of glass. I did every supporting mod you could think of the fix it, nothing ever fixed the problem. I really want the MGW to delete the silly pull up design reverse lock out and prevent any issues that come arise later. For now I am content.

just installed one in my car. its great, precise shifting and great feedback. my only "gripe" with it is when shifting to first you get the metal on metal noise from the stopper. its nothing that would stop me from enjoying it tho.

The solid linkage and lack of reused parts is what sold me. I just ordered my MGW shifter and knob. I can't wait to get it so I can put it on.

Honestly, they really don't need to. The push down lock out w/1-2 adjuster is awesome. The shifter is ( . )( . )s!

anyone know if there is a discount code available for the mgw?
The way I understand it, if you phone in your order and are a member of the SVT Performance forum (http://www.*******************/forums/) and say so, they will apply a discount. I'd have to look back at my invoice, but I think it was 5%.

EDIT: I guess it's a no-no posting a link to another site...? Just search for "SVT forum" and you'll find it.
