Looks potentially bad to me. Lots of sheet metal and trim, plus suspension components, maybe the subframe, wheel/tire, maybe tweaked the unibody. Keep hoping. I only know the CA rule, which is 60% of the value in damage is a total. A new EB PP is worth $25K so you need $15K in damage to total. I don't think you have that, though $10K wouldn't surprise me.

Make them find it all, and fix it at a good shop. You have both the school district and the transportation company to collect from, so there should be plenty of money. If they fix it, it may well be fine. If not, you can sell it and combine the proceeds with your diminished value cash and your damages for the bus driver being an idiot, and buy a new one.

Is it totalled? I highly doubt it. The cost to fix would need to be about 70-75% of the value of the vehicle before they totaled it and the chances of that being true are pretty slim. You're looking at less than 10k I would guess. For reference it took an $18,000 estimate to total my '12 with it valued at $26k(my only silver lining was they considered it "showroom ready" at the time of the accident).

Absolutely claim diminished value by the way.

It doesn't work that way. Well, at least here in SC. Adjusters come out, inspect and write Visible Damage Quote. If it's totaled, they call you up and start negotiating. Prepare your anus. Might need to lawyer up.
If it's repairable, they will cut a check right there made out to you and who ever holds the title due to a loan or lease. Bodyshop holds the check and orders parts and gets to work on it. If they find more damage, they have to come back out and inspect before approving. This can sometimes take up to a week for them to get back out there. ( I once had a two week delay because of this. Shop had to have the guy come out two different times on my '95 GT when it was rear ended. Once when they discovered they had to remove the light bar and when they found rolled quarter lips in the wheel well. )
OP, this is useful info, because they will be putting you up in a rental car. So keep in mind, not only the price of the car repair they have to pay, but deminished value and rental car fees. Ask the adjuster if he has figured in the rental car fees and the time he's going to eat up coming back for the hidden damage they find? Also, figure out the actual deminished value now. Co-worker is still fighting an insurance company that only offered him $2K and when he traded it in, it was actually something like $4K or $6K.
Pushing him over the edge to total it might be easier than you think.
