I'm about to order a GT in automatic, and before anyone says get a manual, I don't want to deal with DC rush hour in a manual car. I was wondering if there's anyway to get the performance package aluminum brush trim with gauges installed in a non performance pack car? Is there wiring in place and would it just be a matter of switching trim panels, putting the wiring together, and plugging off the ac vent? I just feel the gauges look better than the middle vent.

I'm not sure anyone has done this yet, but I imagine it would be as you described.

I guess my question is what is the purpose of me knowing what the vacuum is? Ok, oil pressure may be somewhat useful knowing that oil pump is still working.

It's mainly an enthusiast feature so you can check on it. Its common on Turbos, quite rare on NA engines, but I gess ford had to put something there for the GTs.

Basically like the usefulness of all the measurements in the Track Apps, you dont need you monitor them, but you can if you're interested.

I have the auto & i don't miss the gauges . I added pillar gauges to my supercharged 14 , with a Roush pod vent boost gauge. Eventually Aftermarket will produce gauges and pods for the 15. :headbang:

They used to put vacuum gauges in cars all the time, they were quite often called economy meters. Higher vacuum readings mean better fuel evonomy.

I have an Ecoboost PP and the right gauge is a combo vacuum boost gauge. I would have preferred that they have put a volt meter there and left the boost gauge as one of the selectable gauges in the center display like it is on the non PP Ecoboost cars.

The two in the dash are poorly positioned and can't easily be viewed.

Plus the needles itself are fat and blocks the actual readings by themselves. I don't know why they made the needles so think by putting the black surrounding around the red center. It would be much better without black surrounding.

You could add gauges later but there is most likely no way to swap them in from the looks of it. The vacuum gauge is useless to begin with and there is one on the track apps. Though it's not to say I wouldn't mind having them :D
