No matter what...the Camaro has been & always will be "2nd String" to the Mustang.

So that shows the 8AT to have a 1st gear ratio of 4.56. With a FDR of 2.77, total gear multiplication is 12.63.

In the Mustang, the 6AT has a 1st gear of 4.13. With an FDR of 3.15 or 3.55, overall gear is 13.0 or 14.66.

So either the Mustang has a small gearing advantage off the line, or a pretty solid advantage with the 3.55 gears.

That 0.52 8th gear is ridiculous with a 2.77 FDR. Overall gear is 1.44, versus the Mustang's (approx.) 1.89 in 6th with a 3.15. That thing is going to be turning like 1300 RPM at 70 mph.

Can't imagine it's all that efficient off idle like that. I know the Coyote seems to hit a more efficient point at about 1700 or 1800 RPM, where it seems like the heads wake up, flow better, and improve gas mileage. Don't know how that works with the 2-valve Chevy.

What Ford needs to offer for 2017 is a gas door that locks when the alarm is armed. Then a kit to retro-fit it to the 15-16MY cars. Or the aftermarket could pick up the slack. I don't care much either way.

They will always be fairly close in all statistics. Whichever releases last will probably have a slight advantage in selling points such as HP, MPG, transmission offerings, etc. So pick the one you like most and go with it. If you're truly looking for a performance car save your money for the 350, or Z/28, or Shelby iteration of your interest or simply buy the one you like best and build your own. I would classify my S550 when stock as simply a decent performer. On my first drives I remember thinking that handling was OK, acceleration was OK, nothing about it wowed me except I liked the looks of it. My plans were and are to mod immediately and see what I can build.

It's funny to hear folks say that. I've come from a world of crappy cars, slow trucks and cheap rides because I loathe debt and refused to take on payments. This little EB, which even modded is still slower than your stock GT, seems so amazingly fast and nimble compared to the crap I'm used to driving.

Yes. I'm not sure anyone makes a truly bad car anymore. I used to travel quite a bit for business and every once in a while I'd get an early Hyundai that would feel immediately like it was destined to kill me. We got the wife a new Genesis R-Spec last year and I can honestly say it has been an awesome car. Drove it back-to-back-to-back with a Lincoln MKZ and a BMW 550i and it just felt like a better car in every aspect. 25K miles later car still feels new, no problems at all. Car is almost disturbingly quiet but does high 4's 0-60 and doesn't look too bad to boot.
I did drive a new EB at my local dealer awhile back and you are right, car felt very nimble, more so than my GT (before Steeda), and has surprising acceleration.

If the powerband mimics the Stingray, that mfr will make a lot of low rpm torque. Direct injection allows higher compression ratio...which shows its effects throughout the revs. Low revs + higher load uses less fuel than high revs + low load. Couple that w/ AFM/DoD, which I hate and have removed from every LS I've worked on, and the VVT...I bet it's gonna be an mpg gettin' fool. If it had independent valve timing to reduce pumping losses...holy crap. The Coyote/GT only needs these last few things to be completely badass.

If only I could get the Camaro drivetrain and its love of boltons in the Mustang chassis w/ its quality...

Honestly the turbo Camaro will probably be quicker than the ecoboost 4 in short order. It's guaranteed to be ldk/lnf based and those can run e85 no issues on stock fueling and get near 400 at the tires pretty easily on stock turbo iirc. Plus tuning has been around for a while and they have em pretty well figured out. Plus it's not a headifold...

Bingo. Wouldn't mind that sweet LT1 in my Mustang with DoD turned off. Of course if I'm just making wishes I'd love the Z06's LT4.

You mean the magazine that said it's not a Mustang if it doesn't have round headlights?

The same one that, after the gt500 spanked the zl1 around in all three tests they did, still rated the zl1 a better car? Yep. Chevytrend.

Put a Roush supercharger (or Procharger/Vortech) on your coyote and you have 650hp too like the supercharged LT4 in the Z06. Coyote's respond really well to boost.
My ProCharger goes on next week, but it'll never be the dry sump monster that is the LT4 - even with a Whipple or VMP instead.

Well no but you'll still have one of the more powerful cars out there under $150k; for WAY less than the Z06 costs.
