Still living without climate control in my car.

Anyone else have this problem?

I checked around under the glovebox, there is nothing even there to get disconnected as a post above said. I mean, the blower motor itself has a big plug down there, but that is plugged in.

In the last 2 weeks I have noticed that it occasionally works at low fan speed. But 90% of the time its dead.

I would say it is most likely an electrically issue not a loose plug. Do like me and just make an app and sit with the car makes them work a little faster and you know what is done. For this kind of problem I guarantee they won't want to keep

Ya definitely not a loose plug.. probably some fried control module somewhere.

I have never had a car serviced by a dealer before, so I am not really sure how it works out. I am under the impression that you tell them what is wrong and they will tell you what day to drop off the car and then they call you when its done.

Are you saying there is some sort of way I can bring the car and they will investigate the problem while I wait, and then I can take the car home with me at the end of the day? If that is a possibility, I might go for that. But I will go without climate control for the rest of my ownership of this car before I leave it at a Ford dealer without being there myself.

Sounds strange perhaps, but I have just never once in my life let a dealer work on any of my cars. I have never owned a car that had these types of problems where the dealer would even be knowledgeable to help.

No problem. Yea you can make an appt at the dealership and tell them that u are going to stay with the vehicle. Its not weird at all man I didnt trust the dealership at all with my car. My car had issues and I told them I would not leave it there unless it had to be. For your issue I doubt it would need to stay overnight. I've also had them tell me to drop the car off and they will work you in but don't do that tell them you would like an appt for the vehicle so you can be there. Hope this helps. Keep us all posted.

I don't bring my cars to the dealership unless it's something under warranty that I can't fix myself, and/or it will cost way too much for me out of pocket and want the warranty to fix it for free in that case.

Generally you drop it off the evening before or bring it in first thing in the morning for work that day.

I'm sure you can hang out in the waiting room while they work on it, but I'd be surprised if they will give you an actual window that they will be working on it. So you may be hanging out for a good chunk of the day.

I suppose it is also a possibility they will need more than a day.

Not sure why you wouldn't just leave it there. Waiting in the waiting room or waiting at home/work, not sure what the difference would be.

Not getting it repaired because you might have to leave it there seems quite odd to me.

You'd be nuts to leave a 800hp car at a ford dealer unattended if you expected it back in one piece. I stand to lose a LOT more than I'd gain by trusting a place like that with this car.

The obvious difference in waiting with the car is that the entire staff will not have had their way with my mustang if I am there to witness it.

Take a picture of the odometer when you drop it off. Tell them you have said picture and you don't want anyone 'test' driving it. There is no reason they should need to drive the car for the problem you have and they won't - this is not a movie.

800 or not my car was bone stock and I wouldn't leave it for people to joy ride in it. The two dealerships I have dealt with will schedule appts based on a time not just a day. I would not go for the we will get to it when we can stuff. I agree they are less likely to mess around with anything when you are there. Also they tend to want to get customers not so happy with there car out of there quickly. I have always been polite but honest if asked about the issues with the car when I was at the dealership

They will schedule appointments on non-maintenance type items? Items where they need to troubleshoot and try figure out what the problem is?

Maybe I guess. Seems to me you could potentially be waiting for awhile.

Yep I was having issues with warm start up and idle I came in 4 different times and sat with it. You are correct two of the times I was there close to 4hrs. I brought a tablet and just browsed the web, every once in awhile I got up and walked to look at the car thru the glass lol fun fun times haha

odometer picture does very little to remedy a car that's wrapped around a poll or in a ditch. they will simply say they had to drive it to reproduce the issue. yes, there is a chance they will respect my wishes... And there is as great if not greater chance that they don't care what I say and will do whatever they choose to.

If that's the case, then simply tell them you need to be on the test drive. Or you drive and they ride along if they can diagnose it as a passenger. I've done that a few times with some sports cars I've had.

Well, again.. If I am not there, I can only hope that they follow my wishes, which is a risk I am not willing to take. That car will never be more than 20 yards away from me while anyone else is holding a key to it.
