Same GT PP 3:73 torsen rear end, i like the sound ya know its lockedespecially during gear bangin, sounds like a bomb going off and if ya have one then you know what i am talking about! Listen to the video when a gear is hit you can hear a bang or a thud!! You know its locked in hard!!
FORD NEEDS TO FIX NOTHING ITS A HIGH PERFORMANCE DRIVELINE
Keep in mind that the gearset is different too. If there is backlash stemming from the transmission, higher numeric gears will amplify it more due to the greater gear reduction. It could be that with 3.73 gears, its just enough more than 3.31 or 3.55 that it becomes more apparent.Since that is the one major thing different from non pp cars.

Never thought of that. Wondering if the fluid changes some have been doing really does help.Keep in mind that the gearset is different too. Is your GT PP shift THUD still gone after this steeda bushing?GT PP I had a pretty bad thud but yesterday I installed a Steeda Shift bushing and haven't heard/felt the thud since.
I think that the evidence shown here pretty well casts doubt on it being the Torsen, especially since there are some cars exhibiting it that do not have a Torsen differential. I expect that either the Ford rep misspoke or the author of the magazine article that you read misquoted (more likely). Frankly, there hasn't been any direct evidence that I've seen that suggests that either of the car's differential choices have contributed to the "thud" noise in any direct way.Recently read a magazine review of the S550. The author noted the THUD, and asked Ford (who loaned him the car.) Ford said the thud is normal, it's the Torsen.
So what if he doesn't have a car. I don't have a car (yet) either but I'm watching and trying to make some sense out these forum posts when it comes down to the issues affecting the first year release of the S550. I would rather make an informed buying decision that could keep me from coming back later only to participate in a poll like this. This poll is was waste! Dude that started don't even have a car much less a car with an issue. And where is the option for no transmission thud? Or how about adding the PP half shaft thud in the the poll? People always wanting to blame the Chinese crap first
