Wow, that's thick. This only adds about 1 mm to your phone's thickness.

yeah that's why i don't like that one at all. the infiniapps just uses a thin piece of metal you slide under your phone case, undetectable. the skosche looks like it does the same.

Ya, I understand the reaction.

The reality is though, it is not noticeable in pocket (I always have screen to thigh), doesn't get in the way, and really doesn't bug me in the slightest. It has even been a conversation starter in few instances.

That said, I would probably rather it was thin like yours, but really is a non-issue to me.

I guess the trade-off is a very clean looking mount when no device is on it, but a bit of protrusion on the case vs. imo, a not as clean looking mount, but a virtually undetectable case attachment.

I often do not have my phone mounted when I am in the car, so I'm kinda thinking I'd prefer the Steelie overall. I dunno, they both seem good.

I use the scosche Magic mount. I took the bottom quarter of the adhesive protection off and left the top 3/4 still on. I tucked the top part as high up as I could go under the trim where the radio bezel meets the aluminum and then stuck the bottom 1/4 to the bezel. Minimum adhesive on the plastic but still 100% secure. I LOVE it like this - I run my cord to the enter console because that's the 10w port that charges the phone faster and run the escort live app that connects to my radar detector while driving. To me it's the perfect setup. Little tough to see in the pic it's in the top right but isn't that the point?

I'm still trying to sort out which solution to go with... In the mean time, I'm using a temporary DIY vent mount solution. I put a large binder clip in a bench vise to relieve some of the closing tension and bent the arms to accommodate my phone. (Idea from Lifehacker.com)

I was considering an air vent mount as well (something like this: http://amzn.com/B00PGJWYJ0) From photos, it looks like the round air vents at the top of the center stack can rotate around, so you could align the slats and angle as necessary?

This thread has been super helpful by the way, thanks to all that replied and posted photos.

Yes, that is correct. The vents rotate ccw/cw, so you have some flexibility when mounting.
