What are the differences between just turning traction control off and advance trac? When would I want advance trac off or for what application?

Or when you want to do donuts and power slides in the snow in the Fall to get ready for Winter driving. The only times you should shut off stability control are when you're actually racing, or when you need to get unstuck from mud or snow.
When spinning the wheels in a straight line, having the traction control off allows wheel spin. Stability control will step in on a power slide because its entire raison d'etre is to prevent increasing yaw moment. More by application of brakes to individual wheels than by cutting throttle, though. When you spin the tires in a power slide, does the advance trac cut power? I thought traction control off would prevent cutting of power when spinning the wheels.
The group I run with actually have us keep it in Sport mode. Prevents lots of very expensive cars from being totaled. You have to overdrive the car to get it out of shape so it's like it's not even there...and walls hurt.Unless you're a pro driving on an actual track, I would leave advance trac on. The roads are too unpredictable to have such a valuable aide disabled.
Makes sense, thanks. When spinning the wheels in a straight line, having the traction control off allows wheel spin. Advance Track still interferes in a straight line. Try a burnout at a track and rpms will drop after a couple seconds in Track mode unless Advance is turned off as well. When spinning the wheels in a straight line, having the traction control off allows wheel spin. Stability control will step in on a power slide because its entire raison d'etre is to prevent increasing yaw moment. More by application of brakes to individual wheels than by cutting throttle, though.
