When news of the Mustang EcoBoost was coming out...there were rumors that it would have 'grill shutters' that would be activated depending on the vehicle's speed. I never heard any further about the idea. My Ecoboost certainly has the room between the grill and the radiator. You could almost store a picnic lunch in there. Did Ford change their minds after the Mustang front end was designed?

Are you saying that yours doesn't have the shutters? Mine did.

Immediately went out to look...Absolutely NO shutters between the front plastic grill and the metal of the radiator and intercooler. My EcoBoost was one of the 4,000 on hold in early February. Do you think that they simply didn't install them or tore them out during the hold.
I am going to visit my dealer tomorrow to pick up my license plates. I will tour the lot checking on the EcoBoosts there.
If they have shutters...is there any legal course I could take...I signed and paid for my Premium convertible already. The car itself is near perfect in panel alignments, paint, etc., I would hate to win the case and then have Ford tear the front off installing the shutters. I wonder what mpg penalty I will get by not having the shutters?

That's strange as I've been under the impression that all Mustangs have the AGS. Honestly, I wouldn't worry much about them. I removed mine and didn't see a noticeable hit in mileage. Perhaps the AGS doesn't come on the verts!?

To be able to see the shutters you have to remove the bumper.

It's probably a convertible thing. All 50th anniversary appearance cars come without shutters also. I'm pretty sure they are just a gimmick anyways. Even ppl who are doing the grill deletes aren't seeing a change in mpg

I haven't seen a difference at all. Both the calculated mileage on the display and calculating by hand show the same mileage as before.

Sorry, but there is nothing but empty space between the grill and the radiator!!!! You can look down through the hood latching opening very easily, no mechanism and certainly no shutters. It's quite easy to see the shutters if they are there.

Like others have mentioned, probably just a convertible thing. I removed mine and noticed no difference.
