Not sure if this belongs here because it may be an intended action but compared to my 13' GT which also had hill start assist try 15' seems to engage on the slightest incline. It was nice on the 13 only came on when you were on a hill of a decent incline and probably only experienced it a average of once a month over 2 1/2 years. Now I feel like it's activating a couple of times a day. Not sure if Ford changed the algorithm or activation conditions. Is there tech specs to when it's supposed engage? I.e. When the car is at a certain % incline? That would allow me to gauge if its operating properly.

I can only find other posts referencing preference.

I found the same thing too. I could be on a small incline and it would activate.

I find it intrusive. I've been during my car for 2 months now. I just turned off my hill assist. I got sick of it. I can move my right foot fast enough for any incline anyway.

It's intrusive at times but it helps out a lot. I haven't driven manual in years so this is my first manual car in years and it'll help me as I get used to driving manual again.

I didn't think I would like it since it's such an unnecessary feature, but I actually like it.

Yup turned it off before I even left the dealership. I have a VW Jetta with assist as well and I had to reprogram the car to get rid of it so when I saw I could just turn it off from the dash it was gone.

Yep, it's way more annoying than helpful. I tried it for a couple of months. I paid for it, so I thought I should use it. Then one day, after yet another jerky takeoff, I shut off. It was like the clouds parted. I can't imagine ever turning it back on for any reason.

The two times I killed my car was due to hill assist on the slightest of inclines. It got immediately turned off.

there are any reason to turn it off???? if you said the some time is work and other is not at all. can you just ignore it and drive like you do not have one.

I've experienced it a few times, and don't find it intrusive. Just gives you ~3 seconds to get started on a hill without doing the quick "pedal shuffle" from brake to throttle. Just drive the car like it's always on flat land and the hill assist should be virtually transparent. It's nice that Ford gave the driver the option of turning it off if they don't really like it.

I actually liked it until yesterday I found that the hill assist was on and all of the sudden deactivated causing me to roll back unexpectedly. I dont want to rely on a technology that can cause an accident. I'm gonna turn it off today. I drive on a hill fine.

If you read the owner's manual it describes how it works. It does not hold the car indefinitely, only for about 3 seconds. So how it's supposed to work is that you still need to keep your foot on the brake pedal, then when you get ready to start on a hill, take your foot off the brake pedal and put it on the gas pedal and start off ... the hill assist will hold the brakes on for that 3 second period while you do the "brake to gas shuffle".

I'm aware of this it was working fine but yesterday I was on a steep incline and it held it less than a second. Caused me to overrev the engine in an attempt to stop it. Also, I was at a complete stop, braked and then put it into 1st gear which will activate the hill assist versus leaving it in 1st and then going up a hill. Doesn't seem to work as well as I had hoped.

I never had a problem with manual driving so gonna just turn it off.
