I recently found out that there is a drag strip nearby, and they have run what you brung events. I know very little about drag racing, but I would love to be able to see what my car can do. I realize that I'll get absolutely smoked by most cars, but it still sounds like fun. Aren't there divisions for different size motors and the amount of mods on cars? Or am I just being stooped for even thinking about it?

Regardless, I'm thinking about heading out there this weekend to check it out.

People will run anything at the track. I went to a local drag strip for the first time a couple of weeks ago and got smoked by a few 11 second cars and then burned some guy in a Chrysler 300 lol idk what he did to his car to make him want to race it.

My best time out of 5 runs was 13.82 at 102.8. I haven't seen any V6 times yet. It'll be interesting to see once we have a good number of people going to the track

Do you all guys have helmets ? I never been to drag strip, would like to try but seems like most of them have requirement for helmets for under 14 seconds cars... Also - radiator overlow ??

I have CAI and Ford racing catback exhaust

No tune yet. Or "toon" as Jamo likes to call it. Yea the one near me had the 14 second rule for helmets but I didn't have one and nobody said anything. I don't think they'll really push it as long as you don't get too far below that.

Oh okay it seems the ecoboost and v6 stay on about the same level as far as 0-60 and quarter mile times until they get tuned, then the ecoboost dominates the v6.

Yea I'm holding out on the tune for the moment but once I get that I expect 12s. Also need to get my summer tires on. I tore my winter tires up doing burnouts at the track lol. Do you know how much added power that 93 performance tune gave you?

If I had to guess I would say around 15 hp, same with torque. Could be little more or less I haven't got it dyno'ed. I added an intake shortly after so that added more as well. It's a big improvement over stock. I am going to get a more aggressive tune soon I'm looking to get into the 12's.

Most strips have the local rules on their home page.
14 and under seems to be standard for helmets.
So there' a good chance v6 and stock eb owners won't need one the first time out.

@joe: 12 on an na street tire v6?
That would be pretty badass!

If some ecoboosts can do it on street tires perhaps I can to but I have been wanting new wheels so I may end up getting better tires.

Mine should go on next week.

Might have to hit the local strip to get some baseline runs in...

That could work out NICE.
Opening day for my local strip is 4-11 :headbang:

Well I was going to bring her to the strip this past Friday, but my buddy had a mega-crappy day at work, so I hung out with him and drank beers.

Yesterday they had a benefit run at the strip, so I went - it only lasted about an hour before the rain hit, but I got 7 runs in - my best being 9.17 at 77.95 mph for the 1/8th mile.

She's stock except for exhaust and a K&N filter, so hopefully I can pick up a bit of speed.

My reaction time was really inconsistent, but it was my first time ever to a drag strip so it's not unexpected.

They said that Friday nights are the big night for street cars, so I'll try to hit that in a couple weeks.

At our strip up here in Canada helmets are mandatory regardless of expected ET.

I live in Quebec and I've been to 5-6 different tracks and NO helmets are required, no matter how fast your car is.
