I posted this in the mod and tune thread also but I was thinking one of you guys that drag race a 2015 GT M6 might have a answer to my on going problems at the drag strip ..Here is the post ..

Ok I'm still having problems ... Traction control OFF , Advanced Traction control OFF ,

Same problem .. Leave the starting line at anything above idle the car will pull hard for a few feet and then the motor loses ALL power and falls back to 1000 RPM.. Feels like you are pulling a 10,000 pound trailer or the Brakes are FULL ON .. It takes forever for the engine to rev up to 6500 RPMs .. As soon as I shift to second gear all the power is restored ..Second gear , third and four gears are fine , it pulls like a bat out of hell .. This only happens in first gear ... Now if I leave at Idle it doesn't do it ... But now it has started a new problem . If I leave at idle and then punch it after full clutch release it pulls very hard till it hit around 5500 and then it loses all power ... Shift to second and power is restored and pulls all the way to 7k and never noses over ..

So we have 3 things going on here , Traction control , Advanced Traction control and clutch protection mode ... Bama tells me that my flash ( all their flashes ) have the clutch protection mode turned off and that mine is turned off .. My Traction control is turned off .. I press the T/C button and hold till the Advanced Traction control window pops up and it said Advance Traction control off and I hit ok , even if I don't hit ok it still does it .. This is what I have been told to do to turn off both the T/C and Advanced T/C ... I have also done it by the owners manual ... So I have tried to both ways many many times and it still does the same thing ..

I am really lost here .. Either Bama didn't turn off the clutch protection control like they said or I have a different problem that might be in the T/C or Advance T/C system .. I did run that one 12.78 leaving at idle a few weeks ago , but leaving any harder it loses all power in first gear and runs high 14s ..

I'm ready to take a 10k loss and trade the damn thing in for a automatic car .. It just sickens me to be having this problem and not have an answer to the cause.. I can't race the car this way and that makes the car worthless to me .. I can't mod it and add any more HP to the car because that would be a waste of money .. I have to find the problem .. Please help ....

Can you data log and watch throttle plate position see if its closing down during your issue being all coyotes are drive by wire .I would do some. Data logging and see if you can see what's changing fuel, air, timing , watch AFR,

Have you tried running it with the stock tune to see what it does?
First trip to the track it had the stock tune and never did it ...On my last pass that night I forgot to tune off the T/C and it spun and then it killed power but as soon as it stopped spinning in first gear the power came back on .. This problem I'm having now is a completely different feel...

Second trip to the track it had the Bama tune and it did every run but for my last run of the night ( 12.78 )That run I left at idle ..It starting raining and I could not back up that run ..

After that night I posted about the problem and was told I was not turning off both T/C controls .. So for my next trip armed with this info I was going try it again with both T/C systems off like I was told ..

Last trip to the track was also with the Bama tune and both T/C controls off , it did it every run but for the last run were again I tried leaving at idle .. The track was crappy ( street heat night with bad track prep ) .. It spun all the way in first and got sideways on the second gear shift and I let off.. Leaving at idle the car seems to have full power

I have called Bama about this and they said it is not possible that the tune would cause this ..He said my clutch was fried .. Well I didn't buy that my clutch was fried .. I been racing 4 speed cars for 45 years and I know when a clutch is slipping ..A slipping clutch is not going to cause the motor to bog down and rev slowly and then return to normal after you shift to second gear ..Banging third and forth gears the cars jumps and gets a little out of shape .. Slipping clutch doesn't do that ..

It feels more like the TB blade is shutting down or all four brakes are being applied...

My 2011 did about the same thing when I changed from steeda tune to a pure custom dyno tune . my tuner had me data log and send that to him . he sent new program and issue went away . not sure what he changed though but I'll try and contact him and let u know . I do know it was throttle plate closing down

That sounds like a Bama issue all day. I have the Lund tune and have had no issues like that at the track and I've tried all settings, Normal, Sport, Trac, etc etc.

I put the stock tune back in .. .. I can't make the Bama Race tune do this on the street it only does it on the drag strip .. So the only thing I can do is test the stock tune at the drag strip and see if the problem goes away ...If the problem goes away with the stock tune at the drag strip it has to be the tune ...If not I have a problem somewhere else ..

I had ordered a JLT CAI from American Muscle ( it is on back order ) as well as a new tune from Bama for the CAI ... I have canceled both until I find out what the problem is ..

Definitely sounds like a tune issue to me. I just turn tc off and I don't have the problem you are describing. For the record my best pass is 12.60 @ 118 spinning lol

Smokin - Sorry about the delay and to hear about the trouble you had at the track the other night. This is really on the odd side and just like what's been said above we would really like to get a datalog in as soon as possible so we can have Bama look into this further for you. This is the first time that we've heard of any of Bama's customers cars exhibiting issues like this (along with their fleet cars as well!) and I'm going to work with Paul to shoot you a call soon to get to the bottom of this. I'm not entirely sure where the clutch comment came from either, sorry about that but I'll make sure to speak review the phone call from this weekend!

Rest assured they'll get you up to speed and back on track (literally) in no time and this issue will be history soon!

Let me know if you have any questions in the meantime and you should be hearing from Bama shortly!

Alex

I would test it with the stock tune, if it doesn't do it then you have your answer there.

Are you using any of the driving modes?

It's just a Base GT , as far as I know it doesn't have any driving modes ..

smokinzx14r,

My '11 Mustang GT used to do exactly what you're describing. It was a Brembo Package car with factory 3.73 gears and MT-82 trans. With drag radials and a canned 91 octane tune from SCT it would totally nose over in first gear for what felt like an eternity , then after a second or so would go full power again, then 2nd, 3rd, and 4th it would pull 100%. It was not a clutch or traction issue.

Lots of people told me to switch to a reputable tuner (which I should have, in retrospect), but I instead made the switch to 4.56 gears hoping to launch the car harder out of the hole. The 4.56's cured the launch 100%. Car never ever nosed over in any gear with the 4.56's. Sixty foot times dropped into the 1.6's very consistently. However, I had to make an extra shift into 5th gear. Best the car ran was 12.15 @ 115 in the 1/4 mile.

Here's a thread I started over at the S197 forums back in 2012 on the topic....

http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=87608

When it was time to replace the '11 with a '14, I only considered an automatic. The 6R80 automatic is awesome. With a stall converter, 4.10 gears, tuning, cat-delete, and drag radials, it runs 11.7's @ 117+. 100% stock engine & suspension. Launches so easy and consistently every time.

I love manual transmissions for the joy of rowing through the gears, but on a drag strip, the 6R80 automatic is worlds better than the MT-82 manual.

i believe it is torque management. i cant remember if you can turn it completely off or you might have to change the setting to a really low level or something.
