tuner update

I did get with my tuner and he did state it was the torque management that he had to adjust on my 2011 because on the track the car Hooks harder than on the street thats why you can not make it happen
while your not at the track

First trip to the track it had the stock tune and never did it ...On my last pass that night I forgot to tune off the T/C and it spun and then it killed power but as soon as it stopped spinning in first gear the power came back on .. This problem I'm having now is a completely different feel...

Second trip to the track it had the Bama tune and it did every run but for my last run of the night ( 12.78 )That run I left at idle ..It starting raining and I could not back up that run ..

After that night I posted about the problem and was told I was not turning off both T/C controls .. So for my next trip armed with this info I was going try it again with both T/C systems off like I was told ..

Last trip to the track was also with the Bama tune and both T/C controls off , it did it every run but for the last run were again I tried leaving at idle .. The track was crappy ( street heat night with bad track prep ) .. It spun all the way in first and got sideways on the second gear shift and I let off.. Leaving at idle the car seems to have full power

I have called Bama about this and they said it is not possible that the tune would cause this ..He said my clutch was fried .. Well I didn't buy that my clutch was fried .. I been racing 4 speed cars for 45 years and I know when a clutch is slipping ..A slipping clutch is not going to cause the motor to bog down and rev slowly and then return to normal after you shift to second gear ..Banging third and forth gears the cars jumps and gets a little out of shape .. Slipping clutch doesn't do that ..

It feels more like the TB blade is shutting down or all four brakes are being applied...

That's the same conclusion many of us came to with my '11, as well. Each tuner writes tunes differently, and not all of them adjust all parameters. Torque management should be disabled for drag strip duty. I specifically asked my tuner to turn it off in my '14 and have had zero issues at the track.

Just got back from the track today and to my disgust this is also happening to me. Car made 2 passes with launch control set at 3500rpm which resulted in a slight bog both times, went 12.6 on the first pass, and 12.5 on the second pass at just a hair under 115. I then turned the launch control to 4000rpm which resulted in the exact problem the OP described. Car leaves hard for about 20 feet then it feels like the throttle blade slams shut till I lift, or shift then all is fine. I tried again with the same 4000rpm launch, same result... Then I tried the next pass with the original 3500rpm launch, same thing... On the next one I turned off launch control and tried launching a little above idle, and still same crap...

Car has Lund tune in it, and traction control and stability control were turned off on every pass.

Well i'm very unhappy to hear this ..But at the same time i'm happy it is not just me having the problem .. I have people telling me i'm crazy and I don't have a problem:headbonk: ... Now there are two of us with the same problem .. If there are two there are more having the same problem ..

We both have different tunes , mine Bama yours is Lund .. I have called Bama about my problem ... You need to call Lund and see what they have to say ...Maybe we can find a fix ..

Now how in the hell do we get the problem fixed ?????

If I had to guess we are tripping some kind of safety mode and the ECU is going into limp mode ..

Yeah I will definitely be contacting Lund Monday. It's really frustrating because after those first two passes when it was working just fine, I really felt like I knew what I had to do to see that low 12. This thing has serious potential! But this has to be figured out first.

And you're 100% correct. If this is already happening to both of us, and most of the tracks are just opening, this is going to piss a lot of people off!

I felt like I was getting some where also banging off a 12.70 my first trip to the track ... Now this happens and I can only get 14.90s :frusty:

It seems to get worse the more you try ... It's got to be tripping some kind of protection mode..

At this point I don't want to go back to the track and waste my time and money just to have the same thing happen again ..

It would be great to have a fix so we can get back to drag racing and running faster numbers ..

Please post up what Lund tells you on the phone .. Bamas answer to me was to go to the track and data log the problem .. 100 mile drive to data log a problem ...Then send them the info and they will look at it ... :eyebulge:

If Lund can find the problem and fix it I'd gladly send him 200.00 for his tune... :)

I emailed Lund racing about the issue this morning and this is what he had to say.

Steve,
The issue is not the tune per say its the acessiblity of turning off tq reduction and clutch protection. SCT recently did an update adding those items in. You were most likely experiencing clutch protection logic which is tied to TC and ADV Trac.
Upload this tune all the items are taken care of.
Thanks,
Jon L Sr.

Good , Let us know if it takes care of the problem .... If I'm understanding this right ... SCT program didn't have or was missing part of the programing that would turn off all of the T/C ,ADV Trac and clutch protection .. So now the tuner ( in your case Lund ) has the Program in the SCT tuning to be able to Edit and tune out the problem .. So Lund sent you a new tune with these new additions ... ?

Hey - Sorry I've been on the quiet side but I've been working with Paul/SCT on this and now that we're able to access these parameters (as Paul had said) we should be able to get this fixed up but we would really love to get a datalog on this to move forward. As Paul had said as well which is very confusing (Because we're seeing this a couple places now) is that the issue is occurring only with the tune and not stock as well. I can see he shot you a new tune with it turned off and we're both waiting to hear back from you on this!!

Let me know if you have any questions in the meantime and I'm here to help
