Ahh ok I see. So people with x4 are kinda stuck with a sub par tune, great. Wish I would of known this before I purchased the x4. I do still have it in the box unopened.

That's what I was saying. We all paid 400+$ for sub par ...

The problem for me isn't so much instant gratification it's a company putting out a product that isn't complete. 400$ doesn't grow on trees at my house yet.
I also blame vendors to some degree for not saying hey hold off a while the tuners aren't there yet. Now all the sudden direction has changed to new devices when I was told sct was good to go with lund.

Btw I'm not speaking about Beef I'm speaking for all vendors pushing it.
I agree wholeheartedly. Maybe because I'm coming from the Subaru world where the Cobb Accessport is just the norm. I looked into the SCT 4 and saw that it was released last year and pretty much had the support of everyone in the community. So I dived in 2 weeks ago and purchased one, only to find out after I received and installed it two weeks ago that there are parameters missing.

Oh, and before a certain few of you come to the defense of the vendors, I should have been even MORE thorough in my research. I should have waited a bit more and asked more questions. I need to understand that things work differently in the Mustang tuning community than the import. I get it, I AM AT FAULT.

Tomorrow I plan on going back to my stock tune. $700 on an intake and tune and I made 12whp / 17wtq all while my AFRs were sitting at or above 13.1 while at wide open throttle. I would have blown a ringland on my STI's antiquated EJ257 with that bull (and I rebuild the bottom end with forged internals on that car). Too bad I can't return my 1 week old handheld tuner, another thing that's new to me in the Mustang world (can they be sold to others if unmarried?).

Thank sweet baby Jesus that my wife doesn't give me shit about things like this.

Beefcake, I'll be calling tomorrow to see how you all do things.

Terry, for those of us getting a custom tune on the dyno will we be less affected by this? I'm hearing some sources saying if you are doing a dyno tune the sct x4 is just being used to store the tune and parameters do not matter and some say it makes no difference custom tune or canned tune you will be limited either way. And I'm speaking for a manual transmission.

if your getting dyno tuned, it will take the datalogging out of the equation, so if there are say flat spots (more common on the manuals) or things like that

they should be able to be sorted out better

it seems like after the headers, the autos are more limited on shift points (in d mode) s mode you can get the r's still

the manuals seem to be getting some flat spots that need tweaking, a lot of that will be in throttle control. it will take time to dial them in

it's not that it's "sub par", it's just that all the parameters aren't mapped yet

it will get better.

AFR under WOT with a N/A car isnt the same as a F/I car, you can run almost a full point leaner. Though your numbers do seems a bit low, who did your tune, I'm assuming Lund since you have been working with Beef.

I agree that the release of the x4 was a bit premature, but I think with time it will open up. SCT is a big company which gives you more options to get tunes from different shops/vendors. N-gauge is going to be pretty limited I think in terms of tuner variety.

All of these shortcomings everyone is mentioning, simply sounds like a firmware update from SCT can resolve. All these devices use the same OBDII port to access the computer. Is there a physical component that cannot support these parameters on the SCT? Personally, I wouldn't spend money on an SCT at this point in time if their development team isn't working to crank out an update to support these parameters. I am sure an update of this complexity would require the tuners to update their software as well to make these parameters available. Has anyone reached out to SCT to find out if it is on their roadmap for support to develop an update to address these parameter issues?

SCT was still putting out firmware updates for my Livewire 9600 5 years after i bought it. they are really good at keeping up with updates and to think that they wouldnt be chasing the parameters with the s550 would be ridiculous.

Also wanted to add that the tunes are the same, no matter the vendor.

Don't be misled by any particular vendor posting that they have something that the other Lund vendors don't, as that simply isn't true.

The vendor's do none of the tuning. Pick your vendor based on who you like. Not based off misleading information.

It's important to know that your Lund tune is always going to be the best lund can do no matter what!

Lund tunes are constantly evolving, they are constantly trying to make them better with the paramaters given on the particular platform they are tuning.

Whether SCT, their hyperbox (which currently provides the best tune), or the upcoming ngauge.

Lund's goal is to give their customers the most power, best drivability, along with a safe tune for your vehicle.

Feel Free to hit us up for all your lund racing needs.

When doing catted headers can the tune be adjusted to allow the car to pass inspection or is the computer not set up in that fashion from factory?

there is never a 100% guarantee of a passed emissions, but in general, you should not have issues
