Since I have the Performance Package on my Eco, it frees up a lot of room. What emergency kits have/will you buy? I wanted to get something compact with enough supplies for two people.

In case you haven't caught on, the idea is to put the emergency kit in where the spare tire would of been.

Not sure what emergency you're looking for but here's a good start:

Yeah, I guess my biggest problem with a zombie apocalypse would be trying not to look to excited! :headbang:

Hit up a Marshalls, T.J.Maxx, Ross and head to the guys section where they keep all the gadgets. You can find the majority of the stuff in these emergency kits for dirt cheap. Sometimes you can even find the kits themselves. Cheaper then what you would get an assembled kit for.

Like has been mentioned, I mix and match.
Actually have two emergency kits, one for car related stuff and one for me stuff.
For the car kit I bought a real good one from WalMart.
For the "Me" kit, I bought a cheap day pack and put some items in it that will be useful if the car breaks down and I have to sit by it for a few hours or if I have to leave the car and walk to the nearest town.

If you live in a bit metro area you will probably never need the "Me" pack but if you travel to rural areas you might have need of something to get you by for a while.

My day pack has a change of comfortable clothes, a couple of flashlights, some snacks, $20 in small bills and change, a usable knife, a first aid kit, an emergency blanket, a navigating compass, and a hand held CB radio, a wind up battery charger for both the radio and my cell phone, a ball cap, and a spare pair of prescription glasses. Also keep a couple of bottles of water handy. Switch them out every 6 months.
That stuff and my pistol and I am good to go.

Brooklyn, actually. But I average about one tire blowout per year with the potholes, so I always want to have tools to be able to get a tire on and off easily if I have to, and I've been stuck by the side of the road with electrical problems or blown hoses too many times in my life to want to risk that again. I also used to have problems with dead batteries pretty often because of absent-mindedness, but modern cars with automatic headlights and automatic domelight shutoffs have pretty much solved that.

Either way, I don't want to be sitting on a roadside in East New York waiting for a tow truck at 2:30 a.m. on a Wednesday night. Better to have what I need to do emergency repairs on hand at all times. Last winter I had a blown fuel pump fuse in Easthampton on a Saturday night in December. If I hadn't had the right replacement, I would have been stuck there for two days (because EVERYTHING is closed on Sundays in the Hamptons in the winter).

So you had a spare fuel pump in your trunk?

I want to see a picture of your trunk. Not because I don't believe you, I am just curious as to how you have it all organized...

Fluids in a box, jack in its original box, diamond plate on the trunk floor, everything else in a duffel bag. Most of that stuff is compact. Well, salt is on the trunk floor and brush is in the passenger seat foot well for easy access.
