Long story short, I was away for over a month on business and my car bettery died. Couldn't even open the locked doors. So I popped the emergency key cover on the outside door handle to get access to the traditional lock to recharge the battery. But during this, I think I broke off one of the plastic tabs on the outer key cover and I can't secure it back on on the handle.

It takes a very light touch or pull to take it off now so it will certainly fall off driving. And it looks hideous being off.

Is there an easy fix outside of ordering a replacement part and having a bodyshop paint it so it matches?

Hit up eBay; you should be able to find a replacement in your body color. There’s always S550 body parts on that site.

Ugh, its unbelievable how much juice these things draw even with everything turned off. Pull a battery terminal sometime and see it spark when you put it back on. If I'm gonna be away for more than a week or so, this thing goes on a trickle charger. They're cheap. Get one.
