It is. It's obviously hard to see and in that parking environment every inch counts. Taking it off takes 15 seconds and there is nothing incompetent in failing to notice it when it's dark outside.Excuse me but that is not a dick move, in the least. I tow a jet ski every weekend in the summer and leave the hitch on every day, everywhere...for this reason. That means its not being used 80% of the time. I'd love to see a car get my hitch through their radiator, totaling their car out when they rear end me and I won't have a scratch.
Hope your car is fine...but if I came out to slashed tires, smashed windshield, any damage or some stupid note you can bet your ass my hitch would do a lot more damage before I left. If someone ever blames my PARKED, EMPTY truck for their incompetence, so help me...
Exactly, I think jimmy is getting at the unspoken rule that city folk go by.I'm from Chicago and you gotta look out for stuff like trailer hitches before you park, but it's common courtesy to take them off. Every inch really does count. It's annoying to be parking at night with snow mounds and ice all around with a 10 inch extension off the car in front of you. Only ran into this problem once.
I posted three pictures, one from across the street of the car parked in the spot, one of the space between me and the Pathfinder behind me, and one of the space between me and the Pilot in front of me (with the trailer hitch sticking off the back of it).is the wrong picture showing up for me? all i see is the rear of your car along with the front of a pathfinder
I parallel park in spots like that every day, so I have a lot of practice at it.Jimmy, you got your car in that spot!?!? That's impressive! I can parallel park, but I'm not sure I could've gotten in there without hitting both cars! There may be city courtesy of removing trailer hitches, but I put this one you, the trailer hitch didn't hit you. Glad to hear the damage is minor.
It is the way of things, and it's truly not a big that I got a small dent in the front bumper from it. Those are gonna happen, repeatedly, over the life of the car.So, let me get this straight. You're mad at a guy, that left a trailer hitch in his vehicle, that you hit, while parking? Best of my knowledge, there isn't a law about leaving your trailer hitch in your vehicle. Maybe the guy tows a trailer a lot, who knows. Either way it's your fault for hitting it. As a matter of fact, If I remember correctly, on another post when another forum member got the rear bumper of his Mustang scuffed in a parking lot you said: "If you drive a car in public, dents, dings & scratches will happen. They're not a big deal." It's just the way of things...right?
