First post, so hello folks :)

I have a '10 Audi A5 that I'm thinking about replacing with a '15 Mustang. I've been ready to pull the trigger on submitting the order but I'm a bit worried about the build quality issues some folks are reporting. The A5 is pretty tight even after 5 years, and things like fitment issues and squeaks/rattles/general interior noises drive me crazy.

So, just how common are these issues? Are they afflicting all Mustangs and some people just don't care or are there 'bad cars' out there while the rest are good? I've done a couple test drives and didn't notice anything but of course the wheel time was limited.

Appreciate the insight!

Have had zero build quality issues. On my 2011, just after 40,000 miles the driver's door started to rattle over rough pavement. I'm only at 2,000 miles, so it's possible something could pop up later.

I only have ~1400 miles. So far it's fine - except for the bad A/C Compressor almost as soon as I drove off the lot with under 50 miles on it. That was fixed and it's been fine since.

I have an "early" build and I don't have any odd gaps or fitment issues like some other people.

I have almost 1600 miles on mine and everything seems to be in good working order. Panel alignment is good with only a slight lowering on the driver's side rear glass. No panels rubbing chipping paint. I am throughly satisfied with my purchase.

GUys... i have noticed something... these cosmetic and alignment issues are more widespread in GTs than in EBs or V6s.

Any thoughts on that??

I have some rattles coming from the drivers A/C vent. I just change its position and it goes away. Its funky but nothing I cant deal with. Fitment issues I have had none, everything is perfect on the car so far. Only other thing I would complain about is the E-Brake doesnt sit all the way down when disengaged, it has slack of about 1-2 inches that it does absolutely nothing. In other words, if disengaged and you push it down or put your forearm on it, itll go down another 2 inches or less of play room.

Sounds like you need to get the cable adjusted.

This all sounds pretty encouraging and TBH was what I expected/hoped to hear. Perhaps I'm being naive but if the build issues were as pervasive as it sometimes appears I don't think Ford would just sit on the sidelines and allow it to happen. (And of course this doesn't discount those who are having issues. Those are unacceptable and Ford needs to make it right.) I'm feeling better about placing my deposit; may do so today!

Enjoy your Mustang. No car maker produces the fist models without issues. I stepped in the "bucket" 2 times now in buying 1st year models. With our 2014 Jeep GC we got already recall 6 & 7 (I believe - it is hard to remember this much recalls) in the drawer.

I am sure as the month are going by, the Mustangs will see some recalls like our Jeep.
Only the panels were much better on the Jeep. Period!

I have a squeak/rattle in three spots up front involving the dash trimming, two on the passenger side (mid and rear), and had a misaligned hood/passenger fender and rear glass.

They're issues that can be corrected but they did dampen the new car experience more quickly than I expected. I do want to stress that it doesn't come close to killing off the overwhelming joy I get every time I drive it.

If you buy a car, just document the issues and get them taken care of.

My car was a JOB2 car and built on 11/24/2014. Picked it up on 12/19 as the car arrived on 12/10.

I have zero build issues. This covers paint, panel alignment/fitment, etc. Very happy with my '15GT PP. Honestly, I have never had any build issues on my Mustangs and Cobras.

And I hope you are right.

Suggestion: Are you being told you MUST place a deposit to order? I never had to. IF your are...get it in writing that the deposit is to be returned in FULL IF you decide the car is not to your standards and do not want to purchase it.

Do not sign a FINAL P.O. when ordering. That is never done until all is well with the car and you are sitting with finance to sign documents.
A deposit is required with this dealership but it's only $500 and is fully refundable at any time for any reason. There were a couple dealers in AZ (I'm in Vegas) requiring $1000 *non-refundable* deposits. That's a dicey proposition.
